varsha shraddam in Kasi

Sir,

My father and mother is no more. We are 3 brothers (Tamil Brahmins), all are married and having childrens. My father passed away in 1984. Till today every year we are performing varsha shraddam without fail with all the family members. Since I am 2nd son, my elder brother is doing.We stand by side of him while doing rituals. Last year my mother passed away.

Her varsha shraddam is nearing, now my elder brother is planning to do in kasi, children and famliy members(ladies) cannot participate, if we do varsha shraddam in kasi.

what is palan (advantage). I am telling my elder brother, if we perform varsha shraddam in home itself every one including grand childrens can participate, but he is ignoring me.

Is it true that if we perform varsha shraddam in kasi, we need not do varsha shraddam every years (i.e forth coming years)

Please let me know in detail.

Dear Sekhar

First of all I wish to inform you that it is not correct. If we do srartham in kasi it is not true that srartham for every year can be skipped. Pratyabthika srartham to be done every year on that month and thithi without fail if we already done the srartham at Kasi or Gaya or elsewere.
Further if your elder brother dothe srataham at Kasi and if you are not in a position to join with him then the existing brothers do the srartham jointly excluding your elder brother at your place. Then it is not possible to join your eldest brother in this srartham in future. after that every year you should do the srartham individually.
Kasi and Gaya srartham is different from pratyhuyapthika srartham.

So take decission after thinking twice before concluiding.

It is a misconception. On numerous occasions elders have explained that, even if you do Gaya Srardham you have to perform Varusha Srardham every year afterwards. It is not possible for everybody to go to Varanasi to perform Varsha Srardham at Kasi.
As rightly said by Rajappa Sir, you can perform Srardham separately.

ஒவ்வொரு வருஷமும் பெற்றோர் இறந்த தமிழ் மாத பக்ஷம் திதியன்றூ உங்கள் வீட்டில் செய்ய வேண்டிய ச்ராத்தம் ப்ரத்யாப்தீக சிராத்தம்.. இது நித்ய சிராத்தமென வகை படுத்த்பட்டுள்ளது.

காசி, கயா, ராமேச்வரம் போன்ற க்ஷேத்ரங்கலீல் சென்ற உடன் செய்ய வேண்டிய சிராத்தம் தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் இது இது நைமித்திக சிராத்தமென வகை படுத்தபட்டுள்ளது. .

ஒரு மாதத்தில் அல்லது ஒரு நாளீல் நித்ய கர்மாவை செய்யாமல் நைமித்திகம் மற்றூம் காம்ய கர்மாக்களை செய்ய கூடாது என்கிறது என்கிறது சாஸ்திரம்.

ஆகவே பெற்றோருக்கு ப்ரத்யாப்தீக சிராத்தம் செய்யாமல் வேறூ எந்த பிதுர் கார்யங்களூம் செய்யக்கூடாது என்பது சாஸ்திர விதி.
திருபுல்லானி, ராமேச்வரம், காசி,, கயா, ப்ரயாகை போன்ற க்ஷேத்ரங்கலூக்கு தீர்த்தம் எனப்பெயர் ,இந்த ஊர்களூக்கு சென்றவுடன், க்ஷவரம் செய்து கொண்டு தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் செய்ய வேண்டும்..

ஒரு வருடத்துகுள் மறூபடியும் அங்கு சென்றால் தீர்த்த் சிராத்தம் செய்ய வேண்டாம்.

ஒரு வருடத்திற்கு பிறகு அங்கு செல்ல நேர்ந்தால் மறூபடியும் தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் 5 ப்ராஹ்மணர்கள் வைத்து செய்ய வேண்டும்.. இது சாஸ்த்ர விதி.
நித்ய கர்மாவான பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் முதலில் செய்ய வேன்டியது. அதை செய்யாமல் நைமித்திக ச்ராத்தமான தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் செய்ய கூடாது.டீது சாஸ்திர விதி

காசிக்கு சென்றால் முதலில் தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் செய்த பிறகே பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் செய்ய முடியும். இதற்கு சாஸ்த்ர அனுமதி இல்லை.. பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் செய்யாமல் தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் செய்யக்கூடாது.


பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் 2 ப்ராஹ்மணர்கள் வைத்து செய்ய வேண்டியது. நித்ய கர்மா.வேறூ நாட்களீல் இதை செய்ய முடியாது. ஆதலால் உங்கள் வீட்டில்

பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் செய்து விட்டு பிறகு தான் காசிக்கு சென்றூ நைமித்திக சிராத்தமான தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் செய்ய வேண்டும். தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் 5 ப்ராஹ்மணர்கள் கொண்டு செய்ய வேண்டியது.

அன்யோன்யாச்ரயம் என்ற தோஷமே ஏற்அடும்.தர்ம சாஸ்ஹிர சங்கடங்கள் ஏற்படுவதால் பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் உங்கள் வீட்டில் செய்து விட்டு பிறகு காசி சென்றூ கயா சிராத்தம் செய்து விட்டு வருவதே சால சிறந்த்து.

காசி கயா, அலாஹாபாத், ராமேஸ்வரம் ஆகிய இடங்கலீல் தீர்த்த சிராத்தம் எனும் நைமித்திக சிராத்தம் செய்து விட்டு வர வேண்டும்.
. பிறகு நித்ய சிராத்தமான பெற்றோர் சிராத்தம் வருடா வருடம் ஆயுள் உள்ளவரை செய்து கொண்டு இருக்க வேண்டும் என்கிறது தர்ம சாஸ்திரம்
