Nobel Laureate calls it Indian Science Circus

Ramakrishnan had told TOI on Tuesday that he would never attend the ISC ever as it was a "circus where very little science was discussed". This is for second year in a row that the congress is in the eye of the storm. Last year, attempts to saffronise the congress held in Mumbai - with one participant even delivering a lecture saying aircraft was invented by a sage in the Vedic times - had met with strong resistance.

Science is based on solid materialistic evidence. Scientific inventions/activities can prove their existence with specific theorems/rules. Mere mention of any of today's invention in any relegious books cannot be termed as invention belongs to the religion. Age of any scientific invention/order could be attributed to the day of its physical existence only. Science has only one theory - seeing is believing.!! make your presence feel.

Our sarkari scientists also can freely talk of contributions of indian mythology to science. We may think it is fool hardy. but

it is still a free country and we still can tolerate such garbage.

the most reasonable view is of Manjul bhargava who wisely said that it serves as an old boys club where scientists can meet

and exchange pleasantries and notes.It is just a get together like all other conferences with some good papers, many

indifferent not deserving to be presented. The spouses of scientists enjoy the cultural events if any that form part of the

program that is part of the organising schedule.

why single out science congress alone?

I have attended many international conferences in other fields all over the world.

They are no better than the ISC.

Most attend the opening ceremony,attend the address of key speaker on theme of the conference, some selected papers of

well known entities besides presenting their own papers of dubious value .Most enjoy meeting friends in the same

profession,besides enjoying food and cultural events which are part of the conference.It is a paid holiday with some little

exposure to knowledge on what is happening in the world in the area of conference theme
 
Any மாநாடு is remembered by the delegates only for its Fellowship - Scientific sessions have thin attendance with not much interest in the proceedings and Fellowship is looked after lavishly by those aspiring to be elected for the office for the next year ! If your interest is academic donot register for the conferance Publish your papers in the academic journals That is about ISC

This is anothe ISC indian Spiritual circus!

AVAP convener Chandra Prakash Singh said the organisation planned to hold a "fact-based debate" on "nationalistic issues like the Ram temple".
