அரைக்கால் டவுசர், கையில்லாத மேலாடை, ஜீன்ஸ், குறைந்தளவு டி-சர்ட்கள் அணிந்து வருவோரை இந்து கோயிலுக்குள் அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது என உயர் நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.
திருச்சி மாவட்டம், மருங்காபுரி அக்கியம்பட்டியில் உள்ள ஸ்ரீசெண்பகவிநாயகர் கோயில் விழாவில் நவ. 22, 23 ஆகிய நாள்களில் கிராமிய இசை நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்துவதற்கு அனுமதி கோரி, உயர் நீதிமன்ற மதுரை கிளையில் மனு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டது. இதை விசாரித்து நீதிபதி எஸ்.வைத்தியநாதன் நேற்று பிறப்பித்த இடைக்கால உத்தரவு:
செண்பகவிநாயகர் கோயிலில் இரு நாட்களிலும் கலைநிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்த அனுமதி வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் ஜாதி, கட்சி, மதத் தலைவர்கள் சார்பாக கோஷங்கள் எழுப்பக்கூடாது. பாடல்கள் ஒலிபரப்பக்கூடாது. அவர்களின் படங்களுடன் பிளக்ஸ் போர்டுகள், பேனர்கள் கட்டக்கூடாது, பொதுமக்களின் அமைதிக்கு குந்தகம் விளைவிக்கக்கூடாது, ஒலிபெருக்கி பயன்படுத்தக்கூடாது, இந்த நிபந்தனைகள் மீறப்பட்டால் போலீஸார் நிகழ்ச்சியை நிறுத்தலாம்.
கோயிலுக்கு கடவுளை வழிபட வரும் பக்தர்கள் மத்தியில் தெய்வீக சூழலை உருவாக்க ஆண்கள், பெண்கள், குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆடை கட்டுப்பாடுகள் விதிக்கப்படுகிறது. அதன்படி கோயிலுக்கு வரும் ஆண்கள் மேலாடையுடன் வேஷ்டி, பைஜாமாவும், பெண்கள் சேலை, தாவணி, மேலாடையுடன் கூடிய சுடிதாரும், குழந்தைகள் முழுமையாக மூடப்பட்ட ஆடையும் அணிந்து வர வேண்டும்.
அரைக்கால் டவுசர், ஷார்ட்ஸ், மினி ஸ்கர்ட்ஸ், மிடிஸ், கையில்லாத மேலாடைகள், இடுப்புக்கு கீழ் நிற்கும் ஜீன்ஸ், இடுப்புக்கு மேல் நிற்கும் டி-சர்ட் இன்னும் பல ஆடைகள் அணிந்து வருவோரை இந்து கோயிலுக்குள் அனுமதிக்கக்கூடாது என நீதிபதி உத்தரவில் கூறியுள்ளார். பின்னர் இந்த வழக்கு நவ.25-ம் தேதிக்கு ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டது.

A welcome order with strict instructions to politicials and businessmen who make everything in to their profit making event. Soon a time will come, when ******* too would be willing to visit temples along with others.
 

Welcome judgement.The environment should be conducive for worship without polluting the mind.
கோயிலுக்கு கடவுளை வழிபட வரும் பக்தர்கள் மத்தியில் தெய்வீக சூழலை உருவாக்க வேண்டும்.

Why do we require judges and the courts to decide on what to wear for praying in temples?

They should be involved in disposing of civil and criminal cases which are in lakhs.

many public spirited citizens run to court at the drop of a hat to file petitions on something or other to waste the time of the courts.

Good question! ; but it is to be addressed to the person who has gone to the court.
 
Will it be applicable to foreigners who visit temples and possible to implement?
 
First of all let us confine to local அரைக்கால் டவுசர்ஸ்.
Then think of foreign அரைக்கால் டவுசர்ஸ்.
If the natives follow the rule foreigners would certainly adhere to.
 
It looks this is only an interim order for a particular period of Nov.22 & 23 for the specific function at a specific place. This order does not apply to all other functions/temples all over the land. The case is yet to be heard and suitable order / judgement passed.

To maintain decency and decorum in a place of worship there needs court orders.............. interim... final etc.

Of course respect / regard / Bakthi etc. should come from within not out of compulsion by the court order.

May be just to prevent possible reporting of criminal cases.

Moral: Prevention is better than cure.
 
I feel we should first think whether the temples depend more on the people or whether the people depend more on the temples. It is more than clear that without public support, temples will wither away within short time. Therefore, commonsense requires that the rules and regulations of a temple will have to be such as not to distance or alienate or displease the visiting public; on the contrary, temples should make it a single point programme to attract as many people as is possible, ensure creature comforts for them and try to induce them to donate as much as possible to the temple. In very simple terms, shorn of embellishments, "templing" today is actually temple tourism!

The interference of judiciary in temple matters is not a healthy precedent.
 
There should be some minimum ethics and morals in adhering to dress code at least as observed in Kerala and Kanyakumari district. The atmosphere within the temples should be maintained in such a way which is conducive to worship and prayer.
 
Were you not aware of the latest smear campaign run in kerala titled , "Happy to Bleed", we want entry into the sacred Sabarimala. That too a temple, where all religion, caste and creed are permitted unrestricted entry. I think Ethics, customs, rituals, traditions, faith/belief and even caste/religieon are being periodically targetted in india by some vested interests. This also brings in the question of tolerance/intolerance, politics and publicity, advertised incomes etc.(all of a sudden creating a rumour of some faith healing god, ganapathi drinking milk)

Agreed. In this regard we should follow Semitic religions like Christianity and Islam. Especially Islam has strict dress codes for observing prayers. Nowadays it is painful to see the play of money and power in Temples. Devotees visit Temples to have darshan of the deities for a few minutes and get the mental peace and blessings. But what we see there is utter chaos.
We may need a great reformer to enforce a new code of conduct.

Why should there be 'dress codes' for temples? A Kerala man will feel comfortable in his dhoti & shirt while a north Indian may feel most comfortable in his kurta-pyjama. A foreigner may like to wear Bermudas and T-shirt. Same goes for women too. So, if we allow foreigners to enter into our temples, we will have to put up with skimpily dressed females. If we are supposed to be going to temple out of sheer overflowing bhakti for the god/idol therein, then why should there be a hue & cry about females coming in short skirts, mini-skirts, sleeveless dresses, etc? This is what needs to be considered impartially.
