The views of a person on various issues are not likely to be the same of any other person. Each person has a unique personality and the world is full of differing views. So is there no absolute truth that every person will eventually see?

To argue that truth is one I use the fact that the perception of the physical reality is the same for all of us. That is there is one physical reality which all of us see the same way and there are no differing perceptions regarding physical reality.

The reason we may give is that humans have evolved with regard to perception of physical reality and hence all are mature with respect to it and see the same way.

But in the case of spiritual truths, each one is at a different stage and so sees the reality differently and hence there are differing views on various issues. but everyone fully evolves eventually and all see the same spiritual truth then . This is when attaining moksha.

So we may conclude that truth is one when it comes to both physical and spiritual reality.

What do you say folks?

Dear Sravna,

Before we come to the conclusion that Truth is One as in the Ekam Sat understanding...what is the Truth everyone is talking about?

No one seems to know what Truth actually means.

The ultimate truth that we will know is that the real self is our soul and that soul is God. We will go through other truths on the way to that ultimate truth.

Dear Sravna,

This "Truth" is not agreed upon by all religions and even in Hinduism different schools of thoughts have different views on this.

Some Dualistic school of thoughts view the Atma as one step lower than God and not entirely the same.

Some religions hold the view that the soul is the servant of God and only God is great.

So what is the "Truth" here?

I still feel no one knows anything about the Truth but choose to call it in various names cos they have no idea what they are talking about.

Even the theory that Self= God has been spoon fed to us with the Advaitic spoon.
For all we know even holding on to the thought that the "Truth" exists could be just a ploy of Maya(if Maya even exists).

So for all practical purposes..all I can say is its only X-Files...the "Truth" might not be even out there!LOL

Dear Renuka,

That is the reason I gave the analogy of perception of physical reality. But in the case of spiritual truths, it is different. There are bound to be differing opinions but just like everyone finally saw the same physical reality, everyone will finally see the ultimate truth. If you try to understand what all religions try to say they essentially say the same truth.

Dear Renuka,

One has to think deeper to resolve such differences. I will get back to you on that.

Dear Renuka,

You would agree that all souls are the same. But in the physical world, a person would be a master and another his servant. But they are essentially the same status, the soul of the servant is not inferior to the soul of the master. The same concept can be extended to God and soul of dualistic philosophy. Different philosophers and theologians lived during different times and under different circumstances. They may be facing different challenges. So their theory might have been influenced by the time and the situation they were in. That is also a divine ploy to balance everything if some go in excess and some go deficient. But the ultimate truth one would learn is essentially the same.
