India world’s 7th most valued ‘nation brand’; US on top

While India and France have moved up one position each since last year, all the top-five countries have retained their respective places.

India has moved up one position to become the world’s seventh most valued ‘nation brand’, with an increase of 32 per cent in its brand value to USD 2.1 billion. The US remains on the top with a valuation of USD 19.7 billion, followed by China and Germany at the second and the third positions respectively, as per the annual report on world’s most valuable nation brands compiled by Brand Finance.

If Indians will become more dedicated to their work and be quality conscious in the workplace (instead of being overly religious and at the same time not averse to doing "shortcuts" both in the work place as also in performance of their religious duties like Sandhyaavandanam etc., we will be able to rise to the first position. But the national malaise of "religionitis" affects most Indians down through the ages and we have become experts in "jugaad"!

Generally, majority of Indians are peace loving and not aggressive, contrary to what is happening in some African and Islamic countries - wars, civil unrest, political instability etc.

The country is in badly in need of a leader like Gandhi, who has acceptance from all sections, for advice and guidance.

Even Gandhiji was accepted, so to say, just as long as freedom & independence were out of sight. Once independence came within sight the Congress leaders themselves possibly wanted Gandhiji and his principles out, AFAP and were in a great haste to enjoy the power & pelf of government positions. Corruption set in, most probably along with Independence itself and showed its face in the Mundhra Kumbhakonam.

Thus, we are a country of people essentially lacking in the virtues of personal honesty, probity, obedience to rules and regulations, hygienic practices, etc., and have only the so-called bhakti, religion, singing paeans about our ancient seers and sages etc., to cover up all our vulnerabilities. This is what should be changed first. I believe neither any religious guru nor any charismatic leader will be able to change this; only a benevolent dictator will be able to do so.

Is Modi that benevolent dictator?

Among the total work force Sandhyaavandanam category (Bs) is around <5% only. The remaining work force >95 % are non- Sandhyaavandanam category(NBs) only.
