Delhi 's Maulana Azad Medical college{MAMC} and its affiliate LNJP[lok nayak JP] hospital have issued an order to stop surgeries on obese patients weighing over

80Kg.

The hospitals surgery dept says that operation tables in the operation theatres are not in a condition to bear the weight of obese patients.

The bizarre chain of incidents began, when operating doctors found the table shaking under the patients weight . Moments later , the table

broke and the patient under anaesthetic , fell on the floor. Though the surgery was completed somehow and patient saved , it left the doctors shaking

The hospital called for an emergency meeting and set up a committee which recommended the overweight ban besides suggesting hiring a bio medical engineer

to monitor and maintain the operation theatre tables.lol

The hospital performs 100 surgeries per day

A study by ICMR says 13% 0f 1.2 billion indians could be obese.
