This is an incident which was narrated by Late Sri Subramanya Sastri who dwelled at Madipakkam, Chennai.

Sri Sastri and a few of his friends of the Vedic clan had set out on a religious pilgrimage visiting temples and reciting the Vedic verses. While near Tanjore, Tamilnadu, they realized that the cost of their journey had been more than what they expected. Some of them did not have adequate money to for their return journey.

While they were in this dilemma they heard that the Kanchi Mahaswami (Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal) was camping in a public school near Tanjore. Eager to have his divine darshan all of them rushed to the school. The Mahaswami received them with his usual kindness and enquired about their journey. The group narrated the temples they had visited.

Sri Sastri did not know whether it was right or wrong to ask the Mahaswami for their plight of shortage of money. Much before Sri Sastri could spell their trouble; the Mahaswami asked them to visit a temple nearby stating there was a festival going on and see him after this.

The group went to the temple as directed and started their Vedic chant with utmost devotion. Once the function was complete they were invited by the temple authorities to a mandapam. Here many of the local villagers stood in a queue, took their ashirwad and honored them with a rupee or two each. By the end, these Vedic Scholars had more than what they need to return back.

Happy, these scholars came back to the Mahaswami who only smiled, blessed them and asked them to return back to Chennai. Shedding tears of happiness each scholar returned back to Chennai thanking the Mahaswami who even without asking understood their plight.
