you are doing your duty. you must do sandhya vandhanam three times daily. The body is cleaning the uterus with Vim Powder once in a month.
The dirt along with Vim PoWder is going out. which is harmful to mind.and on concentration to spiritual line.

Hello,

I'm a recent regular practitioner of Sandyavandanam. I perform it all the three times and very recently got married. I just wanted to understand whether I can continue doing Sandyavandanam while my wife is going through her menses?

A fair opinion would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
AB

A 'brAhmaNan' is supposed to do sandhyAvandanam three times a day; wife's menses has no link to this rule. However, for any orthodox brAhmaNan to be worth that name (of "brAhmaNan") the wife should not enter into the house and keep herself in a separate room/outhouse; articles touched by her or coming into contact with the clothes she has touched, are to be purified with fresh cow dung and water. The husband should not see the wife's face for three days and should not have sexual intercourse for the next four days also. During the fourth to the seventh days, the husband should take bath before doing any religious rite including sandhyAvandanam and wear only fresh "maDi" clothes.

The above are some of the more common rules followed by the brahmin community in the olden days. Today, women and girl children refuse to even confine themselves to one room and they want the right to move freely within the entire house. If you have such a surrounding, then it is better not to do sandhyAvandanam at all and lead a Shudra's way of life, because doing sandhyAvandanam flouting the rules (regarding menses and its untouchability will be only preparing your Atma for a long suffering in different types of hells!)

These are the orthodox beliefs.

We are all used to the three states and conditions - uttamam, madyamam and adhamam. It is better to be a madyama and do sandhi with self imposed restrictions and relaxations, than not do it at all. One can always aim to be a uttaman.
