Sri Sita - Lakshmana Sahitha Sri Ramachandra (Kodandarama) Seva @ My Home Thirumaligai during Panchaparvam Observance 2011. The accompanying Carnatic Krithi is a LP 1967 recording by Sri. Lalgudi Jayaraman (Violin), N. Ramani (Flute/Venu) & M. Venkataraman (Veena) with Sri Umauyalpuram Sivaraman & T.K. Murthy on the Mridangam.

My Home Thirumaligai operated out of a Basement Space hosts Sriman Narayana with his Consorts Sridevi-Bhudevi, Sri Mahalakshmi , Sri Yoga Narasimha, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha, Sri Dolai Kannan (Bala Krishna), Sri Aandal, Sri Ram Parivar, Sri Ramanuja , Sri Manavalamamuni & Sri Satyanarayanaswamy. All Alangarams, Daily rituals (Thenkalai Nithyanusandhanam Sampradaya) and Kainkariyams are performed for the Lord including all auspicious events. Panchaparva Seva & Thirumanjanam (Holy Bath) is performed on Ekadesi, Amavasya, Purnima and when Revathi Star is in Ascendence.

In the Vishnu Sahasranama, Rama is the 394th name of Vishnu. In the interpretation of Adi Shankara's commentary, translated by Swami Tapasyananda of the Ramakrishna Mission, Rama has two meanings: the supreme Brahman who is the eternally blissful spiritual Self in whom yogis delight, or the One (i.e., Vishnu) who out of His own will assumed the enchanting form of Rama, the son of Dasaratha.

The primary source of the life and journey of Rama is the epic Ramayana as composed by the Rishi Valmiki. The Vishnu Purana also recounts Rama as Vishnu's seventh avatar, and in the Bhagavata Purana, ninth skandha, adhyayas 10 & 11, the story of the Ramayana is again recounted in brief up to an including the slaying of Ravana and Prince Rama's return to Ayodhya. Additionally, the tales of Rama are reverently spoken of in the epic Mahabharata.

Rama's day and time of birth, as well as marriage to Sita are celebrated by Hindus across the world as Rama Navami. It falls on the ninth day of a Hindu lunar year, or Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami. This day is observed as the marriage day of Rama and Sita as well as the birthday of Rama. People normally perform Kalyanotsavam (marriage celebration) for small statues of Rama and Sita in their houses and at the end of the day the idols are taken in a procession on the streets. This day also marks the end of nine day utsavam called Vasanthothsavam (Festival of Spring), that starts with Ugadi.

Narasimha (Sanskrit: नरसिंह, Narasiṃha) or Nrusimha (नृसिंह, Nṛsiṃha), also spelled as Narasingh and Narasingha, whose name literally translates from Sanskrit as "Man-lion", is an avatar of Vishnu described in the Puranas, Upanishads and other ancient religious texts of Hinduism and one of Hinduism's most popular deities, as evidenced in early epics, iconography, and temple and festival worship for over a millennium.

He is often visualized as half-man/half-lion, having a human-like torso and lower body, with a lion-like face and claws. This image is widely worshiped in deity form by a significant number of Vaishnava groups. He is known primarily as the 'Great Protector' who specifically defends and protects his devotees in times of need.

References to Narasimha are found in a wide variety of the Puranic scriptures, with seventeen versions of the main narrative,[5] some in more detail than others. The Bhagavata Purana (Canto 7), Agni Purana (4.2-3), Brahmanda Purana (2.5.3-29), Vayu Purana (67.61-66), Harivamsa (41 & 3.41-47), Brahma Purana (213.44-79), Vishnudharmottara Purana (1.54), Kurma Purana (1.15.18-72), Matsya Purana (161-163), Padma Purana (Uttara-khanda 5.42), Shiva Purana (2.5.43 & 3.10-12), Linga Purana (1.95-96), Skanda Purana 7 (2.18.60-130) and Vishnu Purana (1.16-20) all contain depictions of the Narasimha Avatar. There is also a short reference in the Mahabharata (3.272.56-60) and a Tapani Upanishad (Narasimha tapani Upanisad), earliest of Vaishnava Upanishads named in reference to him. Due to the nature of Narasimha's form (divine anger), it is essential that worship be given with a very high level of attention compared to other deities. In many temples only life-long celibates (brahmacarya) will be able to have the chance to serve as priests to perform the daily puja. Forms where Narasimha appears sitting in a yogic posture, or with the goddess Lakshmi are the exception to this rule, as Narasimha is taken as being more relaxed in both of these instances compared to his form when first emerging from the pillar to protect Prahlada.

Celebrating the Birth of Sri Krishna - Sri Vidya Rajagopalan & Sri Dolai Kannan & Therazhundur Krishna Seva @ My Home Thirumaligai during Sri Krishna Jayanthi Utsavam 2012 (Thiruvaradhanam). The accompanying Sanskrit Saptaratna (7 Gems) Kruthi composed by Oothukadu Venkatakavi (1700-1765) on Vidya Rajagopalaswamy (Kshetra Mannargudi) in Raga Madhyamavathi is rendered by Chitra Veena Sri. Ravikiran Ensemble.


Narayana Teertha was the author of a Sanskrit opera called Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini on the life of the Hindu god Lord Krishna. It deals with the life story of Krishna starting with his birth, childhood pranks and ending with his marriage to Rukmini. Narayan Theertha uses various literary and musical forms such as songs, prose passages, Slokas (praises in verse), Dwipadis (couplets), etc. The songs are popularly called "Tarangas" means waves. The lyrics are simple yet beautiful and effective. Tarangini is an opera highly suitable for dance drama and it has been very well utilized by Indian classical dancers over the last two centuries. Tarangini consists of 12 Tarangams and encapsulates 153 songs, 302 slokams and 31 choornikaas. Teertha followed Veda Vyasa's Bhagavatam and concentrated on the 10th skandam.

Krishna (Sanskrit: कृष्ण) (kṛṣṇa in IAST, pronounced [ˈkr̩ʂɳə] literally "dark, black, dark-blue" is a central figure of Hinduism and is traditionally attributed the authorship of the Bhagavad Gita. He is known as the eighth and "complete" avatar (As per Gaudia Vaishnavism while other beliefs including Madhva sampradaya consider all forms of Lord Vishnu to be equal) of Lord Vishnu,( As per the North Indian belief, Krishna is the eighth avatar, while as per south Indian belief, Balarama is considered as the eight avatar and Krishna as the ninth) come to restore Dharma to the earth in a time of great dharmic imbalance. Krishna is identified as a historical individual who participated in the events of the Mahabharata. Krishna is often described as an infant or young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana, or as a youthful prince giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita.The stories of Krishna appear across a broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero and the Supreme Being. The principal scriptures discussing Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata Purana and the Vishnu Purana.

Worship of a deity of Krishna, in the form of Vasudeva, Bala Krishna or Gopala, can be traced to as early as 4th century BC. Worship of Krishna as svayam bhagavan, or the Supreme Being, known as Krishnaism, arose in the Middle Ages in the context of the bhakti movement. From the 10th century AD, Krishna became a favorite subject in performing arts and regional traditions of devotion developed for forms of Krishna such as Jagannatha in Orissa, Vithoba in Maharashtra and Shrinathji in Rajasthan. Since the 1960s the worship of Krishna has also spread in the West, largely due to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The earliest text to explicitly provide detailed descriptions of Krishna as a personality is the epic Mahābhārata which depicts Krishna as an incarnation of Vishnu. Krishna is central to many of the main stories of the epic. The eighteen chapters of the sixth book (Bhishma Parva) of the epic that constitute the Bhagavad Gita contain the advice of Krishna to the warrior-hero Arjuna, on the battlefield. Krishna is already an adult in the epic, although there are allusions to his earlier exploits.

Aandal (Tamil: ஆண்டாள் Äṇţāḷ, an 8th century or earlier is the only female Azhwar of the 12 Azhwar saints of South India, who are known for their affiliation to Srivaishnava tradition of Hinduism. She is credited with the great Tamil works of Thirupavai and Nachiar Tirumozhi that are still recited by devotees during the Winter festival season of Margazhi. Aandal is known for her unwavering devotion to the god Vishnu, the patron deity of the Srivaishnavas. The Srivilliputhoor Temple is dedicated to her and marks her birthplace.

"Nachiar Thirumozhi" is a set of 143 verses. In her restlessness and eagerness to join with Kannan (Krishna), Sri Andal attempts various methods by which she can attain union with Kannan which forms the major part of Nachiyar Thirumozhi. Among the Thirumozhis, Vaaranamaiyiram is very well known and has a special significance. It details Andal's narration of her dream of being married with Kannan to her Thozhi's (friends). One can view Nachiar Thirumozhi as Godha Devi's (Aandal) advice to us on how a "Jivatma" in this life should dedicate itself single-mindedly to attaining the "Paramathma". What we see at display is the intensity with which this effort should be undertaken, and the impatience that the Jiva should feel in achieving this objective at all costs, until the objective is realized. In Sanskrit, this is called "Tvara" - it means unbearable haste or speed. An example given to illustrate "Tvara" is a fish out of water that tries to get back into the water one way or the other to save its life. These 143 verses are a part of the 4000 hyms of Nalayira Divya Prabandham.

The 143 Pasurams are organized in 14 segments, each one called a "Thirumozhi". Thus, the first set of 10 Pasurams -- the First Thirumozhi, is called "Thai Oru Thingalum", based on the first phrase of the First Pasuram. Similarly, all the other Thirumozhi-s are named based on the first few words of the first Pasuram of that Thirumozhi.

Each Thirumozhi deals with one specific topic. For example, the 8th Thirumozhi called "Vinnilla Melaappu" deals with Aandal telling her plight to the clouds and sending them as her messenger to Krishna (Govinda), who is stationed in Thirumala. The first Thirumozhi starts with a plea by Andal to help her in uniting her with her Nathan, (Emperuman). The remaining Thirumozhi-s are dedicated to different efforts by Aandal to somehow speed up her union with Perumal. In the process, she goes through lots of impatient waiting, and finally in Patti Mheindhor Kareru Thirumozhi, she is reunited with Perumal (Vishnu).
