the face of tamil nadu hindu munnani is changing, albeit gradually i feel. more and more are thinking as 'hindus' than their caste. even though casteism is strong, the current hindu munnani's face is that of nadars and gounders and thevars.

just check out the group that goes to immerse pullayar every year during the chathurthi. still, i think, it would be wise for tambrams to watch out for these goons, especially women, going alone at night. these are cowards, go in groups only. it may not be a bad idea to hit back when feasible.

One of the priests attacked is Viswanatha Sivachariar who is the head priest of Karaneeswarar Temple in Bazaar Street, Mylapore. I am a regular visitor to this temple on Pradosham day. He is a very old man.

I think the attack is pre-planned.

Since B community does not have sizeable population in Tamil Nadu, no condemnation has come from any political party on the barbarian act of some hooligans. Iyers must be very careful, since the community has no political leader of standing.

மயிலாப்பூர், அசோக் நகரில் சாலையில் நடந்து சென்ற இரு முதியவர்கள் தாக்கப்பட்டு, பூணூல் அறுக்கப்பட்டது.


சென்னை மயிலாப்பூர் முண் டகக்கண்ணியம்மன் கோயில் தெருவைச் சேர்ந்தவர் விஸ்வநாத குருக்கள்(76). இவர் நேற்று முன் தினம் இரவில் மயிலாப்பூர் மாதவ பெருமாள் கோயில் தெருவில் நடந்து சென்று கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்போது 3 மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் களில் வந்த 6 பேர் விஸ்வநாத குருக்களை வழிமறித்து தாக்கினர். இதில் அவர் நிலைகுலைந்து கீழே விழுந்தார். அப்போது கும்பலை சேர்ந்த ஒருவர் விஸ்வநாத குருக்கள் அணிந்திருந்த பூணூலை அறுத்து, சாலையில் வீசினார். பின்னர் பெரியார் வாழ்க என கோஷமிட்டுவிட்டு அந்தக் கும்பல் தப்பிச் சென்றது.


இந்த சம்பவம் குறித்து விஸ்வ நாத குருக்கள் மயிலாப்பூர் காவல் நிலையத்தில் புகார் கொடுத்தார். உடனே விசாரணையில் ஈடுபட்ட போலீஸார் மயிலாப்பூர், ராயப்பேட்டை பகுதிகளை சேர்ந்த நந்தகுமார், பிரபாகர், திவாகர், பிரதீப், ராவணன், அருண்குமார் ஆகிய 6 பேரை கைது செய்தனர்.
இவர்கள் மீது கும்பலாக கூடுதல், அவதூறாக பேசி தாக்குதல், கொலை மிரட்டல் விடுத்தல் உள்ளிட்ட 8 பிரிவுகளின் கீழ் வழக்கு பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவர்கள் 6 பேரும் திராவிடர் விடுதலைக் கழகம் எனும் அமைப்பை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் என்று போலீஸார் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

அசோக் நகர் சத்திய பெருமாள் கோயிலில் பஜனை பாடுபவர் சந்தானகோபால்(69).
நேற்று முன்தினம் இரவு கோயில் அருகே நடந்து சென்ற சந்தானகோபாலை மோட்டார் சைக்கிளில் வந்த 2 பேர் வழிமறித்து, அவர் அணிந்திருந்த பூணூலை அறுத்து சாலையில் வீசிவிட்டு சென்றனர்.

பாஜக மாநில தலைவர் தமிழிசை சவுந்தரராஜன் வெளியிட் டுள்ள அறிக்கையில், “முதிய வரைத் தாக்கி, பூணூலை அறுத்த சம்பவம் கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது. மதம் மற்றும் கடவுள் நம்பிக்கைகள் அவரவர் விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளை பொறுத்தது. மற்றவர்களின் உணர்ச்சிகளுடன் விளையாடு வதை இனியும் தொடரக் கூடாது” என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.


இந்த சம்பவத்துக்கு மத்திய அமைச்சர் பொன். ராதாகிருஷ்ண னும் கண்டனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.


போலீஸார் கடும் எச்சரிக்கை



சென்னை மாநகர காவல் அதிகாரி ஒருவர் கூறும்போது, "தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சி நிறுவனம் ஒன்று நடத்துவதாக இருந்த பெண்களுக்கு தாலி தேவையா என்ற விவாத நிகழ்ச்சியை மையமாக வைத்து இந்து அமைப்புகள் பிரச்சினை செய்தன. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து இந்து அமைப்பினரும், பெரியாரின் பெயரில் இயங்கும் அமைப்பினரும் பல்வேறு வகைகளில் சென்னை நகரின் சட்டம்-ஒழுங்கை கெடுக்கின்றனர்.


வெடிகுண்டு வீசுவது, தாலி அகற்றுவது, முதியவர்களின் பூணூல் அறுப்பது, கோஷ்டியாக மோதுவது என பொது மக்களின் அமைதியை தொடர்ந்து கெடுக்கின்றனர். இத்தகைய செயல்களில் ஈடுபடுபவர்களை குண்டர் சட்டத்தில் கைது செய்யவும் சட்டத்தில் இடம் இருக்கிறது. இனிமேல் மதத்தின் பெயரால் வன்முறையில் ஈடு படும் அனைவர் மீதும் கடும் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும்". என்றார்.

Brahmin attacked in Chennai by DK partymen

I strongly condemn the cowardly act of the volunteers of DK who have attacked two elderly archakas and cut their holy threads. The forum members should join me in this and we should create a huge awareness across social media about the incident.

I feel the best is to treat it as a criminal act..that is an act which has intention of causing grievous hurt.
From the pic we can see that the priest is injured...using religion or caste as a uniting factor wont really help that much cos hindus are a divided lot...just like when Dalits are killed by middle caste the cases are not given much attention..cases should be seen purely based on its criminal intent leaving caste/religious sentiments out.

I agree. That is step one. And it must not be allowed to escalate and given a religious and caste bias, as the Christian church attacks. Even attacks on dalits are amplified as caste attrocities, though many are result of local rivalries and posturing. Cho, in tuglak, interviewed both sides and published a fair analysis.
DK is on slippery ground because what they object is common to all Hindu communities. That is why a collective harsh reply from all Hindus is necessary, even if brahmins are attacked.
Hindu outfits in tamilnadu can take them on.

Jayalalitha's absence from active life is creating all this. First time, she came to power, she gave 5 Lakh rupees as fund for Periayar trust and Veeramani did not open his mouth for long. Either through money or through action - one need Jayalalitha to keep all of this trash silent. Pannerselvam may be afraid to take bold initiative himself or is afraid of elections coming and don't want to do anything drastic to affect AIADMK chances.

First act is to compensate attack victims as an expression of solidarity, this can be done by tambrams through institutional or individual donation. Since all Hindu and sangh outfits condemn this, it is better to join hands with them to fight this crime. Tambrams on their own must not take steps that will not be effective.

Let me elaborate this nuisance since I have experienced from my childwood days hailing from salem where evr used to abuse brahmins during 1970"s and other hindus except muslims and christians were participating in his abusive meetings at bose maidan,fort and shevapet areas where dks massively attacked brahmins and even brahmin ladies were drawn out of houses in streets under veeramanis supervision then.
timid brahmins at salem were silent every where and salem second agrahharam is no were now
rajaganapati temple 108 idols of ganesh were broken by evr /dk and mooda nampikkai manadu was done with full support of dmk and one rajaram evkrishnan salem dmk mp were totally supportive on this malicious dramas
tamil non brahmins mudaliars and other caste kept seeingfun and little dramaticlly gave soothing remarks to brahmins insidely being v happy
all these had always been continuosly purpoted on brahmins as soft targets knowing there will be no reatiation
now make me tahlapathy for t nadu brahmin association and have a war team squad of youngsters between age 20 to 35 only who should be specially assigned self defence and offense exercises to kick the brutes in their spot on times of attacks by dk /dmk which is going to frequently occur from now on
dissolve this state brahmin association without bakbone which is only wekening the community

Yesterday, I went to his house and enquired about his health. He was hit on the face and pushed down. Unfortunately, no one was around. The servant maid of his house, on seeing this, shouted and came for help.

This incident is a perfect example of the nature of Iyer community in Tamil Nadu.

Iyer community is totally disorganized and directionless. Within the Iyer community, it seems, there is a feeling that those who are involved in religious matters are different lot, and they will have to look after themselves.

The head of the B's association is a non-Iyer and how can the affected expect any positive response.

Joke of the day. Attacking brahmins is not racism, as practiced by the white USA cops and people against blacks and browns. Tamilnadu is still heaven, despite such stray incidents. Even though USA has twenty times more rapes as compared to India, India is viewed as rape invested. And a few emigrees clap with glee.

Agree w Sarang !.

I strongly condemn this incident & should be opposed at all levels. Having said this, in the USA & west, the immigrants are killed point blank, brutally assaulted like in the case of the Sikh driver in UK, mowed down, & shot like animals.

In the south in particular, even in such incidents, most of the time, it is more pushing, shoving, slapping that happens. Rarely people are brutally assaulted & killed.

It is better for people to look at the “Shakadai” in their “dream land/country/world” before denigrating their own motherland.
