Hi People,

Anegundi (Anegondi) - ಆನೆಗುಂದಿ/ಆನೆಗೊಂದಿ is a village in Gangavathi taluk, Koppal district, KARNATAKA.
NOTE: Nimvapuram, a nearby village, has a mount of ash believed to be the cremated remains of monkey king Vaali.
Anegundi, believed to be the monkey kingdom of Kishkindha.
Anjanadri hill, the birthplace of monkey-god Hanuman (PRANADEVARU) and the mountain Rishimukha are the other places near Anegundi associated with Ramayana.
Pampa Sarovara related to Lord Shiva and Parvati Devi featured in Ramayana, Shabari a devotee of Rama met here, the legends of Ramayana including Hanuman, Sugriva all are pervading around Anegundi. The pilgrims consider Pampa Sarovara a holy place.
Navabrindavana is located at Anegundi, near Hampi, Karnataka. India. It contains the Brindavana of nine Hindu Madhwa saints.
The nine saints are:
• 1. Sri Padhmanabha Theertharu
• 2. a. Sri Jayatheertharu
b. Sri Raghu Varyaru - Guru of Sri Raghothama Theertharu whose Brindavana is at Thirukkoyilur near Thiruvannamalai.
• 3. Sri Kavindra Theertharu
• 4. Sri Vageesha Theertharu
• 5. Sri Vyasaraja Theertharu
• 6. Sri Srinivasa Theertharu
• 7. Sri Rama Theertharu
• 8. Sri Sudheendhra Theertharu
• 9. Sri Govinda Odeyaru
The brindavanas are called the “Jeeva Brindavanas” since they are considered still alive and are resting eternally there. There is a yellow mark around the Brindavanas indicating the border into which we are not supposed to go and disturb the saints.
• Sri Rama and Sri Lakshmana stayed here while going in search of Seetha devi.
• Anjaneya swami was born and brought up here.
• Sri Rama killed Vali here.
• Vali-Sugreeva fight took place.
• Sugreeva showed the ornaments of Seetha Devi to Sri Rama.
Sacredness of Nava Brindavana:
• Each and every Brindavana, by itself is very sacred and had been located in different places also, every place would have become very sacred and popular on its own. Now, if all of them are concentrated in one single place, a place chosen by nine great saints in a period of about 300 years, you can understand the sacredness of the place.
• Anegundhi is the birth place of Sri Hanuman, the avatar of Sri Madhwacharyaru in the previous yugas and so there is no surprise that Sri Padmanabha Theertharu, the 1st student of Sri Madhwacharyaru and other Madhwa saints chose this place.
• The brindavana of Sri Vyasaraja Theertharu is found at the center of the place. Though he comes in the middle in the order, the others who brindhavanised before him left the central place for him for some reasons. Sri Vyasarajaru, the Rajaguru of sri Krishna devaraya is considered the next avatar of Prahaladha and the previous avatar of Sri Raghavendhra Theertharu. The place where Sri Vysarajaru is brindhavanised is considered the place where Prahaladaru had penanced to cleanse the sins for being instrumental in killing his father Hiranya Kashpu. Vyasarajaru stayed at Hampi-Anegundhi for nearly 40 years before, during and after the Krishnadevaraya period.
Thank You...

hi

i visited once.....

TBS ji,

This place 'Anegundi' is near Sri Raghavendra Swami's jeeva brindavana in Mantralayam, Karnataka. Surrounded by Tungabadra river, this place is a beautiful brindavana of all 9 Madhwa saints. A very powerful parihara sthala, often quoted by Tamil jyotishi A.M.Rajagopalan. From Mantralaya, you have to take rural backroads and drive for sometime (maybe an hour) to reach this place. Then you have to take a short boat trip and reach the hilly brindavana. There is just absolutely no one around, except for a priest inside a tiny Hanuman temple in this location. There is a sannidhi for Sri Parimala Ranganatha Swami where it is customary to light 9 Ghee lamps in a row. Adjacent to the Parimala Ranganatha Swami sannidhi, there is another tiny Hanuman sannidhi where Sri Hanuman is facing his left. People are allowed to make a big circle around the 9 jeeva brindavanas but not allowed to touch any brindavana.
