Just presenting a brief intro about one yagam which I happened to discuss with a colleague today - SOMA YAGAM.

The colleague had direct contact with one of the families who used to conduct the yagam. Apparently, it is a ritual for three days, during which the person(s) doing the yagam must observe strict rules.

On the third day, the pandal of the yaga sala would be set on fire and the namboothiris who performed the yagam would go for a bath. Before they return, heavy downpour of rains occur.

This has been proved time and again, he says.

Many foreign tourists specially come to witness this Soma Yagam.

I have just brushed some details upon hearsay. One can google it and find more info.

If anybody has witnessed this, please do share the experience, not only of Soma Yagam, but of any other similar ones too.
