Pandya , Manu and Matsya

Probably there was Pandya influence in Indonesia, where the word pandom means a ships' compass . Ancient compasses had a metal fish floating in oil and Ind. pandu means "guide" and is used in the National Anthem ("guide the nation" ). The Matsya fish of Manu seems to be linked to the Pandya fish symbol and paNa da ,"pandya" , heritage could suggest the fish of Vishnu . Matsya Purana was known in Indonesia.
Do you believe that Pandya was identified with Matsya so that the name of one could mean the other one - that pandya could mean the fish?
