I happened to see a punjabi film of the above name relating to aftermath of events after 1984 incidents at the Golden temple
Suddenly film censors have become liberal and film makers are dealing with subjects such as Kashmir insurgency in early nineties like Hyder,
PK relating to Godmen. tamil film nayantharas NeeEnge en anbe, vidya balans Kahani on confronting close relative engaged in terrorism. all these films
have stoked controversies.
in this film 1984, a simple rural woman played by kiron kher finds her husband on a casual visit to golden temple to pray gets killed in army action and gets
dubbed as terrorist. Her only young son vanishes without trace and she finds that a police man frames him to grab their family land and tries to eliminate him in
encounter. Her son escapes only to join a militant movement . He soon realises he has made a mistake when he finds terrorism repulsive and he tries to return to
normal life only to be eliminated due to his past by his hindu neighbour.
beautifully made with brilliant performance by kher.
one gets a good view of rural punjab aong witha pretty story relating to terrorism and a commentary on life in the aftermath of 1984 in punjab
in 2014 , it appears that a miracle has occurred and punjab is back to normal with record harvest and peaceful living. It is difficult to believe events of 1984 ever
occurred and the events are just a scar which those who were badly affected by it still carry.
The film is in punjabi with english sub titles..I had no difficulty as I happen to understand the language.
