Kala Bhairava Jayanti 2014 - November 25 (Monday)

Kalabhairava is usually depicted in a fierce form decorated with serpents and carrying a head, which according to the Puranas, was the fourth head of Lord Brahma which lord Shiva in his aspect as Kalabhairava cut off to teach him a lesson. Kalabhairava is one of the eight Bharaiva fierce manifestations of Lord Shiva. He is blue-throated from swallowing the poison to save the world; He is three-eyed with eternal supreme wisdom in his third eye. His eyes are like Lotus flowers. He is Death of death being the vanquisher of death. He is indestructible, wears the garland of human skulls and carries the trident.

Kala Bhairav Ashtami is also known as Bhairav Ashtami, Bhairava Jayanti and Kala-Bhairava Ashtami. It falls on the eighth lunar day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu month of Kartik. It is a holy day commemorating the birthday of Lord Bhairava, the fierce manifestation of Shiva.

According to a legend the Trimurti i.e. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Mahesh were discussing as to who was superior of them all. In the heated debate, Shiva felt offended by the remarks made by Brahma and commanded Bhairava to sever one of Brahma’s five heads. Bhairava obeyed Shiva's orders .Thus Brahma became four headed. Bhairava's sin of Brahmhatya was expiated when he reached the holy city of Varanasi after wandering throughout the world. There are many temples in Varanasi dedicated to Lord Bhairava.

By worshiping Lord Shiva in the form of Kala Bhairava one can get rid of all the misfortune. The devotee enjoys all round success and is exempted from his sins. Lord Bhairava, Shiva and his consort Parvati are worshiped with flowers, fruits and sweets. Dogs (vehicle of Lord Bhairava) are also fed milk and food. Dead ancestors are remembered and offered oblations on this day. -

There's a shrine for Lord Kaala Bhairava in most Siva temples. The Bhairava shrine in the Arunachala temple (Tiruvannamalai) is very special. The Kala Bhairava temple in Kasi (Benares) is a must see for Bhairava devotees. Lord Bhairav has the knowledge of tantra-mantra and is himself a Rudra.

To get the protection shakti that is necessary for a peaceful life amidst the violence, anger and hatred that have become so common, the worship of Lords Kala Bhairava, Sarabeswara and Amruta Mrityunjaya is very important. The worship of Kala Bhairava is very important for those living in foreign countries.

Sir

sir what is benefit of offering canon ball flower to lord shiva

Nature has its ways of bringing the Lord to us; Simple forms that bloom into flowers and seem to depict one of the most sacred forms known to us. The "Nagalingapoo" or Naga Linga flower is one such flower that brings the beauty of the Lord right before us.

They say the beauty of the Lord lies within a lotus, blooming out, holding the Linga within itself, sheltered deep inside housed by the flower that seems to cover it like a serpent, a multi hooded serpent.
It is believed that offering Nagalinga Flower to Lord Shiva brings prosperity to him / his family.

The red flower is called selfish prosperity while the same flower of whitish red is called unselfish prosperity. Jasmine is purity, rose is surrender, Cotton rose is GRACE, and Bougainvillea is protection.

sir wich days are auspicious to donate to multiply merit sir food to charity apart from akshaya trithiya

Any day doing Anna Dhanam without expecting anything in return is always good.

The renowned hero of the Mahabharata, Karna, when he left the mortal coil, ascended to the higher worlds and the great charity he had done here was returned to him hundredfold. But, it was all gold and silver; there was no food, as he had not done any food-charity! He prayed to the god of death. So, he was sent back to earth for fourteen days, to make up for this deficiency.

For fourteen days, he fed Brahmins and the poor, and offered oblations of water. On his return to the higher regions, he had food in plenty. It is these fourteen days that are commemorated in the Mahalaya Paksha. Due to the grace of the god of death, it has been ordained that offerings made during this period benefit all the departed souls, whether they are connected to you or not.

Charity in the form of food is important during this observance. Life depends upon food. You cannot preach religion to empty stomachs. This human body is the most important vehicle for realising God. How precious must food be which keeps the body fit for Yoga! The gift of food is the greatest gift.

Therefore, give food in plenty, not only during the Mahalaya fortnight but all through the year.

The lamp has its own special place in Sanatan Vaidik Hindu Dharma. It is a form and a symbol of Tēj (Absolute fire principle). The lamp is invoked as, ‘तमसज्योतिर्गमय ’ meaning the lamp leads us from darkness towards light. It burns only to give the message of peace and light to man. That is its greatness.

भोदीपब्रह्मरूपस्
त्वं ज्योतिषांप्रभुरव्यय: ।।
आरोग्यंदेहिपुत्रांश्चमत:शांतिं प्रयच्छमे ।।

Meaning: O Deity of lamp, you are of the form of Bramhan (the absolute truth). You are full of radiance. You never wither. Please bestow me health and good progeny and please fulfill my wishes.
Cotton Wicks and their significance:

Single wick (Eka Mukha Deepam) for normal benefit.
Two wicks (Dwimukha deepam) brings harmony and peace in the family and relatives.
Three wicks (Trimukha Deepam) Blesses with progeny.
Four wicks (Chathurmukha deepam) brings allround prosperity and Sumptuous food.
Five wicks (Panchamkukha deepam) showers akhanda aishwaryam or Wealth.
Six wicks (Shanmukha deepam) blesses with Akhanda Gyana (Knowledge) & Vairagyam (Renunciation).

Directions for lighting lamps and their importance :

North - For success in all ventures undertaken. Most preferable direction to place and light a lamp.
East – For good health and peace of mind.
West – For freedom from debts and victory over enemies
South - Never light a lamp in the south direction. It is considered inauspicious.
