Dth services in india

Many service providers make tall claims regarding the number of channels
offered by them, in relation to the monthly charges payable by the consumers, for them. But, if we study the different offers made available, following gimmicks and frauds are noticed.:frusty:

1. 'Free to Air' channels including Assamese or Kashmiri are counted, for
the viewers in the south, so as to artificially inflate the total number of
channels on offer. It is highly misleading and amounts to cheating and
daylight robbery.

2. If we calculate the amount paid for channels that are not at all
watched, the true magnitude of the scam will be understood.

3. Different 'bouquets' are prepared so cleverly that the popular regional
channels, news channels (regional/national/international), sports
channels, children's channels, business channels and movie channels
are distributed in different bouquets, clubbing them with unpopular or
unknown channels.

4. We are forced to buy many 'pay channels' of our choice, by paying
extra money for each additional channel. Here also, each 'pay
channel' does not come alone. It comes with some useless channels
in the same combination, whereas we have to buy the whole bunch,
by paying through our nose.

5. If we are charged only for the 'pay channels' of our choice strictly,
our monthly bill will come down drastically - by more than 70%.

6. It is quite unfortunate that the Union Government also permits such
unfair trade practices knowingly, with a view to favour the powerful
business houses who offer such DTH services in India.

7. The TRAI and the Competition Commission must intervene immediately
without waiting for a formal complaint and take suitable steps to bring
down the rates, so as to ensure that the millions of consumers
receive immense benefits.

8. Otherwise, the competition in DTH industry must intensify further, for
the rates to fall down, owing to large supply position outstripping the
demand.

Let us pray for an early solution to this problem.
