Today's Newspapers carry a sad news that, "Sujatha" S.Rangarajan, the Prolific Tamil writer had passed away at a private hospital in Chennai last night after a brief illness. He was 73. He was the first among the modern writers in Tamil, who demystified fast advancement of Science to reach the common man by his simple short stories and serials in popular Tamil magazines. Later on he spent time in bringing the richness of Sri Vaishnavite Literature like Divya Prabandams and Tiruppavai to the modern youngsters. He was a lover of modern Poetry especially the modern "haiku" type and encouraged youngsters to write short poems in Tamil. His openness in acceptance of modern thinking paid rich dividends to Tamil Literary world. There is not a facet in Tamil Literary world that he had not experimented. He was also into Cinema world when his novels were adopted for some pictures. He was a lover of Tamil, but his love did not prevent him from enjoying literary achievements in other languages, like English, Hindi and Kannada.

"Sujatha" Rangarajan, was born in Madras but grew up at Srirangam. He took his Degree in Science from St.Joseph's College Trichy, where President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was his class mate. Later he took his post graduation at M.I.T, Madras. He was heading the group of technicians in BEL, Bangalore who designed and produced the Electronic Voting Machine, which is popular not only in India but also many other Countries.

His name will be enshrined for posterity in the glorious Tamil Literary field.

Homage to the people writer

My condolences to the great writer of modern tamilnadu on his demise, and it is a great loss to the entire tamil community . We lost a real writer who touch all subjects and giving his knowledge to our society. Indeed every one in the tamil nadu / other parts who knows tamil may came across his writings . He changed the way of the writings , which was easily understood by even a common man , even if it is a difficult subject to understand .

His hilorious way of writing , his vast knowledge in variety of subjects , will be remembered by every one .

May his soul rest in peace .

Tribute to 'Sujatha'

We grew up with the fascinating works of 'Sujatha', in late 1970's and early
1980's. Who can forget his racy style and variety of topics he wrote about?
He did not leave any subject untouched, for his next generation. We in our youth were awe-struck by his evergreen heroes Ganesh and Vasanth.

It was quite admirable that he switched to ancient and classical Tamil literature in his fifties and sixties. His contribution to Tamil film world also
cannot be underestimated.

The subtle humour in his writings was his magic and it attracted all alike.

That he was a classmate of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Trichy St. Joseph's College was really not known to many.

We have lost a great stalwart who inspired and continues to inspire millions of young Tamils!

May he attain the lotus feet of the Lord Ranganatha.
