    Sri Subramanya Ashtakam - YouTube

Sri Subramanya Ashtakam, also known as Swaminatha Karavalambam is an octet composed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, praising Lord Subramanya. It supplicates Lord Muruga to extend a hand of support and this is expressed through the line 'Vallisanatha Mama Dehi Karavalabam' at the end of each stanza.

This simple recording is a humble offering to the Lord on the occasion of Vaikashi Vishakam 2013, traditionally known as the day Lord Murugan appeared for the benefit of mankind.

Recitation by Devaraj Shankara Moothoosamy; Veena and arrangement by Vidwan Rajesh Marday. AUM.

Please find the meaning of the Ashtakam below:

    Who prevents problems for Devendra,
Who can send arrows very fast,
And who by killing Sura became,
The object of adulation of billions of devas.

6.Extend a hand of support, Oh Lord of Valli,
Who wears crowns and chains with diamonds and gems,
Who wears armlet, ear rings and strong armour,
And who is the valorous one who killed Tharaka,
And was saluted by the groups of devas.

7.Extend a hand of support, Oh Lord of Valli,
Who was crowned as their leader by Indra,
With the chanting of the holy five letters,

After strengthening it further by holy chants,
