SRI DAKSHINAAMOORTHY STOTRAM - YouTube

Dakshinamurthy is nothing but one of the forms of Shiva who sat facing south side to give us the knowledge that is why he is known as Dakshniamurthy. Shiva formed this special form when Sanat Kumar visited Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh and found all were busy with their respective Maya/Wife, Shiva created this form at that time.

Om Namah Shivaya Samabaya

Haraye Paramatmane
Pranataha Klesh Nashaya
Yoginam Pataya Namah
Om Namah Shivay (greatest of all mantras)
Om Shiv Parvatibhyam Namo Namah

Hi

The legend of sri dakshinamurthy goes like this.

When Brahma created sanakathi muni and asked them to be a part of creation, they ignored it. The reason being they want answers for their questions. When approached the Trinity Shiva, vishnu and Brahma. Shiva took a beautiful form called "Sri Dakshinamurthy" and sat under the kallala Vriksha facing towards South Direction. Then all the muni's sat under the tree and started questioning to the Great Lord. Since the Great Lord is a gnana swaroopi, Lord started answering the questions posted by the munis. This happened for many years. The reason being, when lord answered, sanakadi muni got a doubt in the answer and started questioning further. So to teach sanakadi muni that all the questions are answered in Great Divine Deep Silence (Sorry don't know how to put the correct word in english), the great lord closed the eyes and started observing mouna. Sanakadi muni were surprised and don't know how to post the question to the Lord, since he was observing mouna. Finally all the sanakadi muni learnt that the Lord wants them to observe mouna. Then all the questions of sanakadi muni were answered in Great Divine Deep Silence. So if we observe the form of Lord Dakshinamurthy, the lord tells us to observe divine deep silence, so that all the answers that we want will be answered automatically.

In the next post I will try to post the explanation of the beautiful form "Sri Yoga Dakshinamurthy"

Note: If there are any errors pls forgive me.

Om Namah Shivayah
Thanks

Great slogam by Adi Sankara. Supposed to be the Essence of Advaitha. All can chant regularly, particularly on Thursdays, the Guruvaaram!
