Three is a crowd, especially in a marriage. But should someone face criminal action for stepping outside the bounds of matrimony? That's what Indian law still holds. It punishes the male partner for trespassing on another
man's property, namely, his wife.

497 of the Indian Penal Code, and could face up to five years in prison if the charges are upheld by the court. His willing lover, though, need not fear the law, since it does not apply to an adulterous woman

In fact, it only applies to situations where the wife commits adultery. The wronged husband can invoke Section 497 against his wife's sexual partner. But if the situation was reversed, and the husband had committed an infidelity with an unmarried woman, his wife has no power to move the law. He faces criminal liability if his lover is married, and her husband files a complaint. LP

Bible says 'thou shalt not covet anothers woman' .

.

when men get into relationships they hardly find out whether the woman is married or not.

Though many touch me not advertise with sindoor in hair and mangalsutra their status, some who are looking for affairs underplay their marital status.

Many are simply bored with their marriages with modern life leaving little time for men to take care of their wives.

Only later when they get into a mess, men realise that the woman happens to be someones wife.

One plus is that very few wronged men approach the courts.

The indian method is doing away with the erring man as happened in nanavati case.

Now women can start fighting for equality in this law!! :fencing:

Rama was a cleanser giving Sabavimochanam to Ahalya and with unclean mind he put Sita for Agniparikshi!
There is a vast difference between these two cases, J J ji!

Ahalya made a mistake and Rama wanted to prove His generosity by pardoning her.
In Sita's case, Rama wanted to prove Her purity to the world! :decision:

OMG! Since most of the kings of ancient India were drinking sOmabAnam and plying the game of dice,
they were doing two mahA sins out of five! 40% !!! :faint:

RRji,

sOmabAnam was not an alcoholic drink. It was just a juice extracted from a plant by name soma and there was no fermentation and distillation involved. You appear to have read a lot of "pakuththarivu" literature. LOL.

There appears to be a lot of confusion about what the actual "somapaanam" might have been in vedic times. It could be an extract of anything, and as for the fermentation and distillation being not mentioned - they could be very common for all such "paanams" and so omitted. Only the main ingredient or process is listed on the label... :)

They probably were doing 8 or 9 sins out of 5... overqualification !!!

Caesar's wife should be above suspicion and not Sita ! What is true for man is not true for God's!

A noticeable change is excessive openness and permissiveness in society .

Interesting news item in delhi paper regarding a man in gurugaon indulging in sex at night with wife with hands tied and eyes covered with cloth and wife singing and dancing

around him suddenly lunged at him and cut his throat with knife . She opened the door of flat and ran off.His neighbour hearing his shrieks rushed in and took him to

hospital with blood oozing out of him. He has lodged a complaint with police who are investigating .lol

Dear Vaagmi Sir,

It is sOmapAnam and I stand corrected. Thanks to Auh ji! :)

Probably the kings were enjoying some intoxicating drinks denoting them as sOmapAnam! :spit:

I have read some pakuththaRivu literature but not much!

BTW, sOmapAnam has already been discussed in our forum in 2010, in this thread:
