Think or sink!

First the daughter is given away in marriage-
decked in jewels from neck to waist and wrist to elbow-
just like in the glaring (revolting to me) advertisements.

Then the boy wants a fancy car to go to his office. :car:

Next the daughter wants every white gadget
(kitchen aids) available in the market-
even though the cooked food will be sent by her mother
to the daughter throughout a day, everyday.

Next they want a house near the office.
So a house will be gifted very soon.

What will the boy / daughter think of asking next??? :shocked:
 
When it was decided that every old student of a certain batch must donate
Rs 5 K towards the building fund, there was hue and cry. :nono:

Only three men (somaachchus???) out of the entire batch shelled the money. :pout:

The guys of the same batch meet every year somewhere and blow anything more than 5K in one day in a fancy lunch and dinner (too heavy for their own good and their advanced age!)

I am reminded of my student who said long ago
"khane keliye tho kuch be karch karoongaa!"
(I will not hesitate to spend any amount on food) :hungry:

The reason he gave was even funnier.
"Only the food goes inside you"
But does it not go out of you the very next day-latest??? :rolleyes:
 
Bhoosuraa status again! :)

After ~20 years the Bhoosura status has been conferred on me again
by my new neighbor - a young lady from A.P.

She asked my permission to give me the auspicious articles
for the next one year(!) everyday(!!) at my own residence(!!!)

She is observing a nonbu from this Rishi Panjami to the next Rishi panjami.

Everyday she comes at the stroke of 4 (P.M)

She applies haldi paste (turmeric powder paste) to my feet twice and offers me betel leaves, jasmine flowers, banana fruits and dakshinai (each twice).

All she expects in return is sprinkling of the akshathai and my blessings!

net result...

I made my feet presentable for the haldification. :)

(I am a big-feet and should have been 7' tall,
going by the length of my feet and my long slender toes)

I located the ankle chains which I had removed some time ago
(since they often become chokers on the ankles due to edema)
and the toe rings ( I used wear them on all my toes except the big toes)

Wonder of wonders!!! :dance: The daily strolling has reduced all the

swellings and I could wear them as before.

I would have thought of this but for my demure and gentle neighbor of -

a perfect contrast of the one I had earlier :fear:

I need to get the mailing addresses of all the lovely people in the TB Forum - got to send Prasadam i.e.,
Vibhuti and Kunkumam, is there any way I can get these from the Forum / should I have to ask Parveen Ji
for it / would I have to ask or appeal each member through PM ? Please advise.

Could you also check and let me know whether there would be any problem in sending Prasadam through Indian Postal Dept to countries like the USA / Malaysia - personal baggage, I know passes through Customs, Security etc.
but through ordinary post, please ?

Just to irritate you, I will stubbornly stick to Prasad Ji's thread on the Kumbh

I knew you were surfacing in the other thread sine you did not appear in mine.

Even turtles need a breath of fresh air now and then! :)

The best way to distribute the prasadam is to call for a meet at Chennai

and give it away to all the lovely people who are willing to appear in person.

Alternately you can post a message in the other thread that those who are

interested to get the mahaa prasaadam may send their address to you through

P.M.

Forget about sending it to the foreign countries. When we posted the Palani

prasaadam to our sons, it never reached them. It was the time a new

epidemic was raging across the countries. I am sure they were breaking

their heads -unable to identify the lovely smelling white/grey power -

despite all the tests they could think of doing on it. :becky:

Since when have you become a pujariji??? :rolleyes:

When you disappear where do you go and what do you do???

Pain and fear should be
conquered by oneself.

No one else can do it for us.

Confront them boldly.

Take them by their horns.

Give them a hard time until
they give up bothering us.

Make your fear fear you
instead of you fearing your fears.

Pain freezes a joint/ part of the body.

Give into the pain and rest the joint...:couch2:
it gets worse and worse until
it becomes completely useless.

Remember "We lose what we do not use".
USE???:decision: LOSE???

Continuing to use the joint/ part of the body
disregarding the pain restores the strength to the joints
and we regain all the movements as before and
they will be pain-free this time. :)

Out here normal post Vibuthi is not opened..cos my father receives Vibuthi regularly from Shiridi Sai/Sathya Sai Org India via normal post and nothing is opened.

In fact Shridi Sai Org sometimes even sends crushed eatable sugar candy prasad that is sealed in a small plastic.

In enjoying worldly pleasures there is fear of disease, a reputed family has the fear of disrepute, abundance of wealth causes the fear of a king/government, self respect has fear of having to beg, power has fear of enemies,beauty has the fear of aging, learning has the fear of an opponent, virtue has the fear of rumours spread by wicked men, our body has the fear of death.
Thus in everything in this world there is some fear or the other for men.
Renunciation alone confers fearlessness.

Bhayam or fear is due two reasons...

1. losing what we have, what we cherish and what we love to possess

2. gaining what do not want to have, do not like and feel hppy to be without.

So we want to be close to the objects of our priyam and stay away from those

of apriyam. By renouncing, we get over the priyam-apriyam-complex or

the 'likes and dislikes' or 'raaga-dvesham' and become free from fear for life.

Charca is Discussion/Conversation.
Same word used in Hindi to denote discussion.

Aachaara is Conduct or sometimes also used to denote a particular method(methodology).
Same word in Tamil (Aacharam)..with similar meaning.

In Malay..Acara means an event or a ceremony.

I read a few interesting facts about sadhAchAram in Tamil:

சதாசாரம், சிஷ்டாசாரம் அறிமுகம்.... 1

தர்மங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் ஆதாரம் வேதங்களும், வேதாங்கங்களும் என்றே சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

வேதங்களை அறிந்துணர்ந்த ரிஷிகள் அதற்கு கிரந்தங்களை, ஸ்ம்ருதிகளை அளித்துள்ளனர். இவற்றிலேயே

அனுஷ்டிக்கும் முறைகளான ஆசாரம் போன்றவை சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவற்றை கடைபிடிக்கும் மனிதனது

ஆசாரம் சந்தோஷத்திற்கும், பகட்டிற்கும் மட்டுமல்லாது மனத்தூய்மைக்கும், செயல்களிலும், எண்ணங்களிலும்

தவறுகள் வாராது காப்பதற்குமே என்று வகுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. வேதமறிந்தவர்கள், வேதத்தைப் போற்றுபவர்கள்

பின்பற்றும் இவை 'ஸதாசாரம்' அல்லது 'சிஷ்டாசாரம்' என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.


ஸத்துக்கள் மிகுந்த ஆசாரம் 'ஸதாசாரம்'. சிஷ்டர்கள் தமது குருவினிடமிருந்து கைக் கொண்டதால் 'சிஷ்டாசாரம்'.

பொதுவாக ஆசாரத்தை தர்மம் என்று கூறினாலும், தர்மத்திற்கு ஸஹாயமான உபதர்மங்களை சதாசாரம் என்றும்

கூறியிருக்கின்றனர்.

... because some people are 'liked' so much by the others
.....that the other people keep showering 'likes' on
.....the person they like
.....like nobody's business
.....the least the liked person can do is to
.....keep track of the likes received from
.....the people who like him/her
.....but whom she/he may not like at all since
.....life is like that dear sister! :dizzy:

சதாசாரம், சிஷ்டாசாரம் அறிமுகம்.... 2

மத்ஸய புராணத்தில் 'சிஷ்டாசாரம்' என்பதற்கு எட்டு குணங்களைக் கடைபிடிக்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளதாகத்

தெரிகிறது. அவையாவன:


1. தானம் - நல்லவழியில் சம்பாதித்த பொருளை பிறர்க்கு, யாருக்கு அப்பொருள் தேவையிருக்கிறதோ அவர்களுக்கு அளித்தல்.


2. சத்யம் தவறாமை - தான், கண்டு, கேட்டு உணர்ந்ததை உள்ளது உள்ளபடி உரைத்தல். தனக்கு ஏற்றபடி மாற்றிக் கூறாதிருத்தல்.


3. தபஸ் - இந்திரியங்களை அடக்கி வசப்படுத்தல், ஏகாதசி போன்ற உபவாசம் இருத்தல், மெளனம் பழகுதல் போன்றவை.


4. லோபமின்மை - நேர்மையான வழியில் சம்பாதித்ததை மட்டும் அனுபவித்தல், பிறரை மிரட்டி, தட்டிப் பறித்து, வஞ்சித்து

பொருள் சேர்க்காமை.


5. வித்யை - தபஸை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு மனோ நாசம் ஏற்பட, பிரம்ம ஞானத்திற்கான வித்யையில் இடுபடுதல்.

6. யாகம் போன்ற சத்கார்யத்திற்கு உதவுதல், ஹவிஸுக்கு செலவு செய்தல், வேதாத்யனம் செய்பவர்களுக்கு தக்ஷிணை

அளித்தல், வேதங்களைக் கற்றல்.


7. பூஜனம் - இஷ்ட, குல தெய்வங்களை ஆராதித்தல், அதிதி சத்காரம், தேவ, பித்ரு, பூத திருப்தி செய்தல்.


8. இந்திரிய நிக்ரஹம் - தனக்காகவோ, பிறருக்காகவோ பஞ்ச இந்திரியங்களை விஷய வஸ்துக்களில் பிரவர்த்திக்காது இருத்தல்.


பிரம்மாவின் மானஸ புத்ரர்களான பிருகு, அத்ரி, அங்கிரஸ், வசிஷ்டர், புலஸ்தியர், மரீசி, புலஹர், க்ரது, மனு, தக்ஷன்,

போன்றவர் இவ்வாறான ஆசாரங்களைப் பின்பற்றினராம். மூன்று வர்ணத்தாருக்கும் ஆசார, அனுஷ்டானங்கள்

கூறப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. இன்று செய்பவர் குறைந்து அல்லது வழக்கொழிந்ததால் அவை ஏதோ வேதியருக்கு மட்டும் என்ற

தோற்றம் நிலவுகிறது. இவற்றை சிறிதளவேனும் நாமும் பின்பற்றி ஜன்மத்தைக் கடைத்தேறுவோம்.

People who like someone always click like for even simple posts

by the person they like! If I say that they are like J---- some of

our friends don't like it and like to :typing: to Praveen!!
 
It is like a mystery that a person

who does not LIKE to click the

LIKE button for anyone

is LIKED by everyone else

and is flooded with LIKES

for the very same reason not LIKED by her

and give their LIKES all the same

since they LIKE her in spite of the posts

LIKE that one which makes fun of

I would like to explain once again. Somehow I don't like to give the heart shape like to the posts I like!

I write that I like when I like but don't click the like button! I would like to click the like button liberally,

like no one is watching
since it is now also true much to their liking.
Still I like the concept that
all of us are not as like as the
peas in a pod - that we all like to eat!!!
