Mix of Religion,Politics and Economics

Now we are a deadly cocktail of Religion and politics.

The party ruling the country enjoys the backing of an organisation which promotes and propagates hindutva and hindu sanskar.

It expects the govt to follow its basic beliefs.

The ruling party rode to power with thumping majority on the back of majority community support and feels obliged to cater to its religious agenda.

It might be good politics but bad economics some times.

Cow protection has become the highest priority. But it has hit exports of meat to the gulf countries.

Those who consumed animal meat are forced to reduce meat eating or shift to chicken or mutton which are expensive.

Propagating use of hindi and hindu sanskar is leading to national debates on Dos and Donts.Dresses and social behaviour of women are receiving more attention

than putting them into gainful employment. Women both uneducated and educated prefer to sit home sanctioned by religion and be good bahus and daughters.

There is a need to outgrow these and govt needs to follow policies which are good economics and not cause outrage in sections of indian population.

When economy takes front seat in all meaningful discussions, then there is a need to pull up the bottom 50% -both rural and urban poor ] and get them into good

employment and not be satisfied by food for work by manual labour or doles for needs of food, clothes and stay.

Engaging them on religion and prayers alone appealing to their religious sentiments and offering doles can create vote banks alone.

By preparing the ground for economic take off by GST and lower fiscal and revenue deficit ,there is a need for economic pragmatism to uplift the lower 50% thru higher

level of skilling and better employment contributing to GDP.

Our only response appears to be encouraging enterpreneurship and telling all to start a business. Most may not possess the capability to start and sustain businesses.Start

ups are mostly collapsing with most going downhill with more debts. Large scale job creation in rural areas or in our slums with higher value added with better skill sets

alone is the solution.

Government alone cannot do this. A collective effort with NGOs , retired professionals, educated housewives with time to spare can contribute in a big way.If govt has to do

this , this is possible only by redeploying the large army of govt [both central and state in villages, gram panchayats, district head quarters. In face Govt has lakhs of under

employed, idling employees in state govt and at the centre. Unless there is bottoms up approach to pull up the poor, there is no salvation for our millions in poverty..

Similarly industrialists can be offered amnesty or write offs so that they restart and make their plants productive and contribute to capital formation. Organised lending from

banks without witch hunts is a pre requisite. Will govt muster courage for banks to take a haircut and settle NPAs fast and become functional?
