In the early days of the iPhone, the iPod Touch was its faithful companion, a device for getting the experience of the iPhone on the cheap. At that time, most devices were inferior to the iPhone and were pricey, so the iPod Touch sold like cupcakes.
It had the Apple Logo, a sleek design and a touch screen: A perfect formula for success. But as other smartphones (Mostly Android) caught up with the iPhone, prices too started to go down. Bigger, better, cheaper smartphones appeared and the iPod Touch sales started to go down. Apple started slowing down product refreshes and rumors were abound that the iPod Touch line was getting the axe.

But the rumors were wrong, as the iPod Touch is getting a much-needed push in the arm, with a price cut and some other upgrades. But don’t get too excited, there isn’t anything major. The 16GB Model, now receives a 5MP iSight Camera and then there are more color options.

The price of the 16GB iPod Touch is now $199 (Down from $229), the 32GB one will cost $249 and the largest, the 64GB One costs $299. You can grab them now at the Apple Store.
