The world was surprised when Nokia had announced its first Android phone, the Nokia X even as it was announced earlier that Microsoft is acquiring Nokia. This meant that Nokia’s Android Phones were in direct competition with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS. But it wasn’t plain Android, it was Android with Google out and Microsoft in (Google’s services were replaced by Microsoft equivalents).

As Nokia completed the process of merging with Redmond, the fate of Nokia’s Android Phones were put into question.
No more, as Microsoft has announced the Nokia X2, the successor to the Nokia X. It retains Nokia branding, contrary to what Microsoft had said earlier.

It has a 4.3 inch WVGA Display, a 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core Snapdragon 200 Processor, 1GB RAM and a 1800mAh Battery. There is a 5MP Back Camera and a VGA Front one and finally there is 4GB of Storage, expandable to upto 32GB via MicroSD Card. At first glance, these specs seem mediocre, but that is because the phone costs only €99($135).

It also had Dual-SIM support and also (finally) a Home Button, which was a curious omission for the first Nokia X.
It runs Android Apps, of course, but like before there is no Play Store. Instead there is the Nokia X App Store, a highly-curated Store for Android Apps. If you are not satisfied with it, surely we will find a way to root it, just like it had happened with the Nokia X.

All this shows that Microsoft/Nokia is aiming for the developing prices where features like Dual-SIM slots and also cheaper prices are preferred.

It comes in a variety of colors : Green, Orange and Black, with more coming later. It is launching in July.
