[h=1]Rumor: Google is looking to invest into Virgin Galactic[/h] June 12, 2014 G.Kishore

After conquering the Internet, Google is looking towards the Sky next. It had already acquired Skybox earlier and now a rumor pops up that Google is looking towards investing in Virgin Galactic, which is going to start commercial flights to Space later this year.
[h=2]Two Different Roads[/h] Google may invest upto 30 million dollars into Virgin Galactic, taking minority stake.

Google reportedly is preparing 180 satellites for launching, as Google, like Facebook wants to bring internet “to the next billion.” These satellites will be used for that purpose and Google will use Virgin Galactic’s help to launch these into low-Earth orbit. For the purpose of getting access to Virgin Galactic’s satellite-launching tech, Google will separately give $100 million dollars for a joint venture.

As mentioned above, Google had acquired Skybox, a company producing cheap satellites (in a good way). Perhaps Skybox will play a role too in making those satellites.
[h=2]A push to Virgin Galactic[/h] The terms of the deal haven’t yet been finalized. If this is true, then it will give a huge push to Virgin Galactic, which is currently doubted by some people about its viability. Also, it will make Virgin Galactic rise above rival projects from entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk.
[h=2]A Search Engine? Far more than that[/h] Google has evolved far from its early search engine stage. From its early days, it has progressively helped shape the Web. In recent years, it started venturing into hardware. With Google X Labs spawning projects like Self-Driving Cars, Google Glass, etc and Google trying projects like this, it seems Google will become a much larger part of our lives.
