Google. presumably to promote Glass, has allowed anyone in the US to buy Glass for one day, which is today.

Yeah, anyone. Google announced a last minute update for Glass and it wasn’t some last minute brushing up, it was a HUGE update with the he addition of some features, better optimization and finally the removal of Video Calling.
Glass has got upgraded to Kitkat in the new update due to which Glass has better performance and battery life. Plus developers can now build apps for Glass using the latest Android SDK.

Better battery life is great cause Glass performs extremely poor in the battery department: It powered down before you did.

There is one huge shaking up of things in Glass’ software and it ain’t good: The latest version of Glass has removed Video Calls support, so if you had any dreams of walking on the pavement talking to someone halfway across the world, forget it.

Video Calls were removed because they supposedly didn’t meet up to Google’s standards of excellence and quality. Another reason for Glass’ removal cited by Google was the fact that less than 10% of Glass users actually used the device for video-calls.

However. fret not. The omission of video-calls is only temporary, as Google will bring it back once Video Calls get better.

Anyway, the removal of Video Calls is a biggie cause Google is removing a feature that it had showcased as a “Must-Have” feature in Glass videos. Glass doesn’t have much in it’s feature repertoire to compete with smartphones and other devices to begin with and the removal of Video-Calls just makes it worse.

You can now send feedback to Google to help them to improve upon Glass. Voice Commands used by you will now be sorted by recency and frequency.
Also, now you can send photos in Hangouts.

For more information on these features and to view the complete list, take a look at Google’s post on Google+.
