with the passing away of shri t r subramanian (trs), carnatic music world, has lost a versatile genius. He passed away on 4[sup]th[/sup] oct 2013 in chennai.

Mr trs was a vocalist and a teacher.

Though he was a student of musiri, he preferred the mega star gnb’s style.

He used to attend concerts regularly. While attending concerts the respects he received from performaing artists and others are noteworthy.

I saw him in a concert on 1[sup]st[/sup] oct (tuesday) in ragasudha hall. The artist commenced her concert with his song.

In the life time achievement award function for violinist kanyakumari, trs said he formed lot of sangeetha sabhas in andhra pradesh.

As usual, the central government has not honoured him properly, while s r janakiraman was awarded with padma shri.

It shows very clearly that iyers, in general, and vadamas, in particular, are not good in public relations. Otherwise, gems like maharajapuram viswanatha iyer, madurai mani iyer, gnb, dk jayaraman, tanjore kalyanaraman, v v subramaniam, t k murthy and now trs would have got more recognition, awards, prize money and other celebrations.

However, trs will be remembered for ever.

May his soul rest in peace.
