Good and ill

A person who with ill intent
Does good deserves no compliment.
But if he should with good intent
Do ill, we should be lenient.

The bee against the window beat
His wings, annoyed at the resistance.
I, grateful for his honey sweet,
Desired to come to his assistance.
The window partly opening
I took him gently by the wing.

He furiously stung my thumb
And robbed me of the role of saviour.
His murderer I had become
And punished for my good behaviour.

The old rule I remember now
If you would help, you should know how.

Dear KR Subrahmanyam Ji,

Did you write this? It is quite good!

Your good intention was mistaken
by the busy bee for a bad intention!

How would it know that...

you wanted to save it out of the ordinary
and not squash it as has been customary?
