Gents among our Our ancestors used to go for Bajanai on the streets...

At the same time ladies used to put big Kolams in front of houses and also group of ladies join together and put Massive Kolams in Temples during Margazi month...

This practice is adopted by our ancestors because , Scientifically the Earth we live in will come closer to Ozone during Margazi.

As a result of this Natural Occurrence Enormous Oxygen is available in the Atmosphere During early mornings of Margazi.

This is Very Healthy for living. But Today no Bajanai and no Kolams.

Ladies used to see the Last Serials in TV and at late nights and put Kolams during late night itself and wake up at 9 am on the next day.

    Dear Sankara Narayanan
Can you kindly provide any authentic reference to these facts (ie articles, books or webpages and not Sr^tis, smR^tis, purANams etc.)

That depends upon which hemisphere you are in. In the northern hemisphere, the earth is closest to the sun during winter (perihelion). That, of course, has little to do with the temperature outside. Earth's rotational axis poles are tilted about 23, and in late December (around December 21) they point furthest from the sun. This means the day is the shortest possible length, and also that the sun appears at its lowest angle in the sky. The lack of heat means cold air masses, snow and ice.

Conversely, in the southern hemisphere, just the opposite is happening. December 21st (or thereabouts) is the longest day of the year, with the sun reaching its highest point of the day, and summer begins.

There was a thread மார்கழி திருப்பாவை started two days ago in the forum slokAs and mantras. Sri. Chandrasekaran had posted the first two pAsurams of thiruppAvai in that thread. Now I find another new thread with the same title started today in the forum pujas and rituals.I think it will be convenient if all the pAsurams are posted in a single thread.

Thiruppaavai song 4 "Azhimazhaikkanna" is a faithful description of tamil Nadu weather right now. The black rain clouds, the lightning, the thunder and the rain all bearing striking resemblance to the Lord and His Weapons! Om Namo Narayana! Andal Thirunaamam Vazhi!
