Since the start of the year, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been working to build himself a personal artificial assistant, much like Tony Stark’s JARVIS from the Iron Man comics. And it seems that he really did mean personal.
In a Q&A in Italy on Aug. 29, Zuckerberg told the crowd that he hoped to have a working version to show off by next month. He also mentioned that it only listens to him—something he’d previously hinted at, but has now confirmed.

“[That’s] much to the chagrin of my wife, who can now not control the temperature because it is programmed to only listen to my voice,” he joked. “Which is one of the perks of being an engineer, you can do that.”
It’s not entirely clear whether this is because his wife, Priscilla Chan, was too busy to sit there to train Zuckerberg’s system to be able to respond to his voice, or whether Zuckerberg even asked.
Facebook wasn’t immediately available to confirm whether Chan was consulted about not being able to control her home’s thermostat anymore.
