A nice initiative to give away whatever you have in excess.

Chennai, it's time to give back: Help change thousands of lives with Chennai Gives

Here's how you can donate.

The Chennai Gives campaign is back, so it is time for you to start packing up things you want to donate. You have time till September 4.

In its second edition, Chennai Gives is an initiative from Round Table India and Ladies Circle India. Conceptualized by Madras Round Table1, it is being supported by Uber. The spirit of the event is to encourage and foster a community of givers amongst individuals and corporate houses.

Akshay Dugar from Round Table India says Chennai Gives was initially started as a small venture.

“The art of giving and the power of oneness come together in the form of Chennai Gives. If each privileged citizen came forward to donate to a needy person, that act is nothing short of a life changing experience for both,” he says.
“Imagine the impact we are going to create with 32 chapters working hand in hand with our partners for the event, the magnitude of such an experience is unbelievable,” Akshay adds.

I am wary of these celebrities and society well off women and men throwing useless crumbs to those who are poor and not so well off.

They are more interested in photo ops and they like to stay in limelight posting their selfies.

It is disgusting.

I am also equally wary of the members coming here and talking against celebrities and society more espcially about well off women and men gifting useful things to poor and not so well off.

Probably may be it is due to grudge also. God don't bless excess of anything to everyone. Some always find short of anything and for such, where is question of offering gift when they themselves suffer want of lot.

It is really disgusting to see such postings.

May God bless them more richness to share something with poor.

TN govt takes care of the poor very well.

It is one of the best govts for social welfare.

What is required is a income tax raid on the celebrities and the so called society women and men.

The taxes they have avoided /evaded will be several times their wonderful donations for the poor.

Poor did not beg for their donations.

TN govt takes care of the poor very well.

Member do come here to post something without any basis, whereas the census data showed that 56% of landless labourers are surviving on daily wages in Tamil Nadu, and this is the maximum in the country.

"Even neighbouring states like Karnataka and Kerala have only 22.26% and 40.28% of such labourers who depend on daily wages,"
It is reported that the state has more number of rural households earning less than Rs 5,000 per month which is higher than the national average.

The census shows the pitiful condition in which the people are living. Member needs to update his information.

It is one of the best govts for social welfare.

.

State was ranked as "Very Highly Corrupt" by the Transparency International.

It is reported that Tamil Nadu State government spends around Rs 50,000 crore a year on subsidies, and it’s outstanding debt was Rs 2.1 lakh crore in 2015-16. Let him go through the current Budget, revenue deficit, debts, etc.

I think the member goes by hearsay which is against the fact.

What is required is a income tax raid on the celebrities and the so called society women and men.

Instead of spending time on this Forum, please do write to the Income Tax Department to conduct raids. Will you do??? LOL

Tamilnadu poor have got from dravidian parties all consumer durables for house holds which no other state govt in india has been able to do.

Ammas canteens are role models for other states.Tamilnadu is one of the states which has made a success of miday meal program which is envy of all.

Govt schemes for women self help groups, laptops ,school books, gold for marriage of girls, sanitory pads distribution , cycles for school children , medicines at

subsidised rates, drinking bottled waters All these add up to a formidable welfare program for TN citizens.

TN has one of the best PDS in india

It is easily one of the best governed states.

The way NBs have prospered in tamil nadu, it is commendable.

Top PSUs recruit SC/ST candidates from tamilnadu in preference to other states as these are the best in the country.

As brahmins , one may criticize TN . It is the best state for the marginalised poor.

TN industrialists are third class.

They cannot match either marwaris, gujerathis or punjabis when it comes to business .Only a few chettiars , nadars or gounders might have done well.

Who cares for industrialists from tamilnadu?

They do not have much political clout at national level.

Subsidy regime in TN has made people selective in choosing to work and they have better bargaining power.

In fact most of the hard work in areas like construction, hotels , security duties are done by people of other states [bihar, orissa, bengal] in tamilnadu.

locals are selective in their work.

Most complain about house hold workers in TN who charge high wages for minimal work with maximum absenteeism.

A Delhiwala may praise and sing blindly the glory without knowing the facts and ground reality.

If that is the case, why the public of Tamil rejected this party in 98 constituencies.....?

And if that is the case, why the ruling AIADMK candidate of Vilancode constituency lost his deposit..??

Similarly in Krishnagiri District, the ruling AIADMK candidate lost his deposit in Thalli constituency. Why…..??

The Ruling prty was able to secure only 1.76 crore votes against the other Opposition alliance which was able to secure 1.71 crore votes…?

Out of the 234 assembly seats why this party was able secure only 134 plus seats and lost in 98 seats….??

This speaks volume....... LOL
