AN APPEAL

Manimangalam is a tiny village in the District of Kancheepuram which is called as the Temple City of Tamil Nadu. In Kancheepuram alone we can see many SHIVA and VAISHNAVITE Temples built during various periods of our great Sages and Kings who ruled the erstwhile area.
One such temple is KAILASANATHAR TEMPLE built in A D 950 by the then King VIJAYA BALAYA CHOLAN. This temple was worshiped and then renovated by the then Kings VIZ. 1ST RAJA RAJA CHOLAN DURING A D 985; KING RAJENDRA CHOLAN IN A.D.1014; KING 1ST KULOTHUNGAM IN A.D.1070.
This temple has the distinction of hosting one of the Nayanmars of Shaivite cult viz.SIRU THONDA NAYANAR. He was none other than the Army General of the King of Pallava by name Paranjothi who was engaged in the war between the King 2nd Pulikesi of West Chalukyas VS Pallavas.
ANNADHANAM is supposed to be the best DHANAM amongst all dhanams and more than any one Maharathi Karna is said to have not performed ANNADHANAM during his days and took a rebirth as SIRU THONDA NAYANAR and done a lot of ANNADHANAM in this sacred village.
Yes, a truly sacred village, MANIMANGALAM was once upon a time called “CHATURVEDA MANGALAM, where pundits and experts of all the four VEDAS have lived and enjoyed the bountiful blessings of Lord Kailayanathar.
This temple has the seen the best of times of the History of our country and a sea of humanity has benefited by the grace of Lord Kailasanathar.
Now the entire temple is in ruins and to substantiate the present position of the temple we are taking you to the widely read English daily “THE HINDU” which published an article about the temple in its daily dated 02nd September 2006 along with a photo of the present condition of the temple.
The temple belongs to the HR&CE of the Govt., of Tamil Nadu and a trust in the name of SRI PALANIANDAVAR TRUST has taken up the massive task of renovating the temple and brings the temple to its past glory.
All the philanthropist people are hereby requested to donate generously to the trust to accomplish the task and get the blessings of the LORD KAILASANATHAR.

Any further information like paper cuttings, latest pictures of the construction and other information can be furnished upon request.

Once again we would like to assure you that this is not a hoax but a real attempt to renovate one of India's age old treasures.

Yours truly,

Dear KannaRajesh,

The below doubts are noway related to your posting regarding the temple.

The temple own its great significance
1. By the pradhakshina of Janana-marana dwara
2. The stone carvings of the temple surrounding the whole sanctum sanctorium

You might think of some other world of sculptures once you enter in the temple...

1. Is that Manimangalam was the village where the fight between Mahendra pallavan and Pulisei happened and Mahendra pallava was stabbed???

2. Other doubt is how siruthonda nayanar is related here in this village. His village is Thriuchengatangudi, which is very far from kancheepuram. Also, during the time of his position as Warrior, he never ever turned with shivabkathi. Only after vathapi fight, he converted into Pakka saivite and after which he returned to his own hometown.

Pranams
