I went to this beautiful movie about two individuals Shiv[Nasiruddin shah] and Tara[ kalki koechlin] thrown together in a hospital in cochin nursing their comatose
spouses..Shiv faces the prospect of a wife not recovering from comatose even after several months and kalki a young girl with a husband of several months
slipping into the comatose state due to brain damage . How they cope with their personal issues, their dilemma whether they should let their dear ones die is the
theme. Then What doctors treating them feel and how they are forced in some cases to take a call on some hopeless cases and the ethical issues on how far they
can go to preserve life is also depicted..
A bond develops between Shah and Kalki both thrown together to face a personal dilemma and how to cope with life on finding themselves in this situation is
depicted.
A dubai and london asian festival film well received by critics and released in multiplexes with hardly any viewers on first day[about 45 in an empty theatre]
first show is surely an award winning film not meant for the masses.
But a brilliant film of less than 90 minutes duration with an interval of ten minutes with the first half very gripping and second half not living upto the promise
of first half.
It ends leaving the question unanswered .whether those in coma survive or there is need to remove life supports for those in long comatose states -euthanasia.
Both shah and kalki have performed brilliantly.
A five star film for a hot after noon for all senior citizens.I enjoyed immensely.
