The Facebook report says PM Modi makes an average of 2.8 posts per day.

Kolkata: As Narendra Modi completes two years as Prime Minister, he remains the second most-liked world leader on Facebook, the social media giant said today.

The list of most-liked world leaders on Facebook released by the social network shows that PM Modi is second only to US President Barack Obama and is followed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

PM Modi's Facebook post on May 15 with his mother at his official residence at Delhi's Race Course Road remains on top with 1.6 million likes, 1.2 lakh shares and 34,000 comments.

"My mother returns to Gujarat. Spent quality time with her after a long time & that too on her 1st visit to RCR," he had written in the post which was accompanied by three photographs of the mother-son duo.

The Prime Minister's colleagues are also not far behind in making their presence felt in the virtual world. Out of a total of 50 cabinet ministers along with ministers with independent charge, 47 of them have verified Facebook presence.

During the last one year, the top performing ministers on Facebook include Home Minister Rajnath Singh, HRD minister Smriti Zubin Irani, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

The Facebook report says PM Modi makes an average of 2.8 posts per day.

His other top posts include the one where he changed his profile picture in support of the efforts towards a Digital India.

The prime minister paying homage to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is his third most popular post, according to Facebook.

Among the top three government initiatives popular on the social media site include 'Make In India', 'Digital India' and 'Skill India'.

Will such 'LIKES' bring votes in Assembly and General Elections?

Will such 'LIKES' bring votes in Assembly and General Elections?

In North India social media works...The Hindus are united (except on OBC reservations) there...Be it a Punjabi Khatri or a Jat or a Kayasth or a Bania or a Brahmin or an OBC are supporting Modi & Hindutva big time...Modi is being quoted almost daily in social media platform like never before...Also his plus points of no family, no corruption, his sincerity, dedication to the country + his blemishless senior cabinet members are all positive points that are enhancing his aura..He is also pro poor...What a combination! The social media has percolated down through the karayakarthas & has reached the villages..So rural populace is also supporting him...Educated or uneducated!!

In case of Tamil Nadu social media is also powerful! But AIADMK won with negligible social media presence..There is a separate story here..AIADMK has found the support of the poor & lower middle classes who want freebies..DMK also promised freebies but it is perceived as supporting only MK's extended family and also more corrupt..

But AIADMK has to change the tactics in next election..It has to be seen in social media to make an impact as more people are joining the social media

Modi made a visit to Tamilnadu as part of BJP's election campaign and addressed a huge gathering; it is said that Tamilnadu leaders of BJP, tried to convince MODI to address the gathering in English; but their effort went in vain / futile, as Modi is adamant and inflexible.
