[h=1]Kejriwal government to waive off pending water bills[/h]Announcing a “gift” on its first anniversary, the Delhi government on Sunday said water bills of households pending till November 2015 will be waived off -- partly or fully.

Addressing a gathering to mark one year of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said numerous families that had got inflated bills at some point had stopped paying water bills.

While the economically weaker sections will get a full waiver up to November 30, others will enjoy concessions of 25 to 75% depending on their economic category, he said.

Water minister Kapil Mishra told IANS that this concession was conditional upon the affected households going for functional water meters.

“There have been cases where people got inflated bills. To avoid paying such bills, they stopped paying every bill, posing a huge problem for our accounts department,” he said.

“It was posing an unnecessary burden on us, and we knew this amount wasn’t recoverable.”

An excellent move.

I know the pain involved in getting bad water bills rectified.

Once I got a bill for 1.24000rs.for 2 months consumption due to faulty reading . It took me a year to set it right.

I had to go to the highest authority as agreeing to correcting such bills did not vest in lower level authorities.

I had given up after going to meter readers, ,inspectors etc .

I refuse to pay speed money to anyone for such things.

I barged into the room of the high official at lunch time and made him fix it.

he sent me a mail saying he had done it.

To fix something , only those at the bottom of the pyramid-meter readers or top normally a person of dy secretary rank of IAS can help.

Others do not matter.

What happens to the poor who are not savvy enough to reach the top.for fixing?

They get harassed by middle men wanting their cuts.

Municipalities are in poor shape.

It is a pain to transact with them unless you have your own contacts.

AKs move will win him the hearts of delhi poor and middle class.

His fixing delhi electricity ,water and to some extent police has won him a huge following.

There is hardly any open corruption now.

Most would be more careful weighing the risks involved.

Anyway it is tax payers’ money.

Instead of looking into the aspect of fixing theproblem viz generation of inflated bills, this Government seems to have optedfor a short cut solution.

Just a couple of days back in another posting, onemember pointed out the skyrocketing of property prices at Delhi.

So does this mean, they are penniless to settle thewater bills?

One may wish that such Government which is unable to fix problem and opt for quick-fix-solution, should not become bankrupt in the long run.

more than 50% population of delhi are poor and lower middle class. They could live with lower cost of utilities.

AAP believes that for drinking water , the poor should not be charged.consumption beyond 20000 litres is charged in full. This has resulted in reduced consumption of

water by most. Our water woes have ended. We have no shortages now like other cities.

Similarly for consumption upto 400 units of electriciy, people are charged half. Those who consume more than 400 units are fully charged to pass on the cost to the well off who

consume power. Their tariffs are higher at higher consumption slabs. It is socialism of sorts.

Charges are being waived for the really poor in full on unpaid bills only for those who have metered connections. So this is making poor people get metered connection

instead of using street taps for water. AAP has lowered charges for putting water pipes and meters in homes of the poor. I applaud the move.

Point No.1 - Delhi city does not have its own water sourceand has to necessarily depend uponHaryana State for supply of raw water.

Point No.2 - What was the promise made earlier? Does all areas of the Delhi city , more particularlysouth, which includes unauthorized colonies get piped drinking water?

Point No.3 - Do piped drinking water supply provided to areas such as Vasant vihar, Parts of Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash, Panchasheel, etc?

Point No.4 – What is the solution for the residents ofDelhi undergoing bitter experience with tanker mafia and apathy of Delhi JalBoard?

Let summer come, with the mercury level shooting up, every street willwitness ruckus.lol

Water treatment plants meant for west delhi , dwaraka etc were lying idle for want of water from haryana and have started working. They were the suffering ones

These are the poor and the middle class. They were held to ransom by tanker mafia.

South delhi is full of well off.areas like vasanth kunj,GK, panch sheel are multi crorepathis. They have ample storage facilities and water also for watering their lawns.

Most run wild water bills. They get water if needed from tankers on click of a button. few urban village pockets, ares like madangir, okhla , tughlakabad etc depend on

borewells . Water table has fallen and some complain. They are suffering due to UP ganges water not reaching them. It is just an apathetic neighbouring state stopping

supplies for repair or lining of ganga canal. East where I live has plentiful water. No water issues.

Our national capital is suffering from severe watershortage which is getting worse day-by-day.

And it is going to be very worst in the peak of summerwith ground water level depleting slowly.

Every year, Delhi has to necessaily depend on neighbouring States like UP, Haryana, Punjaband Uttrakhnd for sharing of water.

It is reported that 52% drinking water get wasted throughleakage in pipeline. What has been doneto this? Where is the solution?

What is the action taken by AK to fix this?

What is the action taken to replace the defective meters?

There are not less 600 water bodies which need to bereplenished to ensure adequate supply of drinking water for all residents ofDelhi.

Why the Jal Board provides pipe line only to VIPlocalities?

Why no rain water harvesting system implemented which can very well recharge the ground water level?

A wise Government will take effective measures to arrestsuch crisis permanently.

Who is bothered about Government treasury?

It seems, he is trying to fulfill the promises he made during election campaign. Let us appreciate his efforts.

It is eye opener to the other political parties, especially regional parties.

AK is a man whose heart has feelings for the not so well off.

Hence my feelings for him.

He means well.

People care for him for that reason alone.

He is bania -a trader caste.

He is finding money for his welfare programs out of budgets of construction projects which he has implemented with cost savings.

He has brought down corruption in day to day life>

You have to be in delhi to sense the change.

AK has been successfully Stirring up one controversy after the other and keeping the fire burning and thus ensures that he is in the lime light of the media all the time.

And hasall the time to talk about other State politics but does have time to payattention to Delhi’s burning problems.

Justfighting with Central Government, he is not going to get anything done

Election promises made are in the doldrums.

What happened to core issues like JanLokpal, Swaraj, full state-hood to Delhi and cleaning of Yamuna, etc.

Some of Delhi residents may be sleeping like 'Kumbakarnan'. lol

Controversies and taking on people bring about changes.

People have to run for cover or solve the issues.

AK is the only one who is trying to implement the election promises to some extent.Power and water measures along with reducing corruption and trying to make

police

accountable has made a difference.

Women raise a hue and cry if anything small happens with actions being taken swiftly than before.

Swati maliwal is a find for AAP.

She takes on the might of officials/politicians indulging in harassment of females.

To some extent it deters the wrong doers

No Wi-Fi in public zones as promised

No action taken to fill up 55,000 vacancies that exist in Government. How can one expect a Government function efficiently with such huge vacancy?

No action taken to install 10-15 lakh CCTV Cameras as promised

No action to push Swaraj Bill

No action in building 500 new schools and 20 new colleges as promised.

He is busy in talking other States politics.

He is in clashing either with the LG or Modi Government

He is busy in drawing public attention in the media.

A wise CM will pay better attention to the welfare of the people who voted him to power instead of meddling with avoidable issues.

Tall promises, bundle of lies, no vision and no target.

May be Delhi deserves such a Government.

Keep electing this Party.

On account Jat strike in Haryana, the canal supplying water to Delhi has been blocked.
There exists acute water scarcity in Delhi.

Honestly I expected a new beginning from Mr Arvind Kejriwal, when he associated himself in the movement against corruption. Instead he and his associates fell for the glamour of Politics and fame. People voted them to rule the National Capital with enviable mandate. What we see today is a different Kejriwal who has exposed himself to power politics. Trying to travel on the beaten track to hold power by offering "free bees" and tax waivers.
Unless he makes sensible course correction he will be rejected by the same people who have elected him.

Yesmohan Ji,

You are right.

Kejriwal is helpless.

The whole lifeline of Delhiites now seems to be with Harayana Government.

What a pity! They are dependent.

"Jat stir: SC to hear Delhi govt petition on water supply tomorrow

The Supreme court has agreed to give urgent hearing on Monday to the petition moved by Delhi government seeking Centre’s intervention for the uninterrupted supply of water from Munak Canal in Haryana which is allegedly under siege of the Jat agitators demanding reservation.
Delhi government’s senior standing counsel Rahul Mehra on Sunday said the petition was mentioned before the Registrar, who marked the matter for hearing the next day.

The petition was moved on Saturday evening in which a plea was also made that the Centre should deploy army to ensure supply of water from Munak Canal.

“Water should be supplied immediately to Delhi as it is lifeline of people,” Mehra had said, adding all water plants in Delhi are shut as the protesters have “taken over” the canal.

Sir,

I agree. I also favoured him while his party got elected at Delhi.

Supreme Court might hear the case urgently giving top priority and even would give verdict favoring Delhi; even Haryana Govt. will wish to obey and execute the orders given by SC.

But the water canal is under the siege of irate / infuriated mob. The crowd / mad mob, could not be made to oblige without applying force.

Ha ha ha

AK can blame BJP -haryana govt for water crisis.

East delhi and parts of south delhi fed from UP ganga canal are not affected.

School buses off the roads.

Children celebrate.

But Noida schools work.

Many children in east delhi go to to Noida for schools .

If you like hooka, join the agitation and smoke free hooka on the roads with jats .

when charan singh was PM, jats from all over north would flood delhi in a show of solidarity with him.

now they do not have leaders of that stature.

Only jat we admire is virendra sehwag . He also has retired.

we should look for new icons.

Hema malini married to a jat can capitalise

Of course, women of Garstin Bastion Road at New Delhi are least bothered about the water crisis or any other agitation for reservation.

As for them, everyone of their customer is equal without any reservation irrespective of the caste they belong.

Those Senior citizen of Delhi who are likely to be affected, may escape from the current crises by seeking comfort from them.

These women don't have any grievance against either Kejriwal or Sheela.

Who ever the C.M. they have their thriving business.lol

This is the ground reality.

“Jat agitation: Delhi water crisis will be unmanageable if nothing done immediately, says Kejriwal

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia added: "No water available now. Still no hope to get it."

Excerpts:

Both Sisodia and Kejriwal said that if nothing was done immediately, “water supply in Delhi will face an unmanageable crisis”.

“Delhi facing an unprecedented water crisis,” Kejriwal added.

Aam Aadmi Party legislator and former Delhi minister Somnath Bharti added: “Receiving panic calls from residents (over) no water supply. Request (Rajnath Singh) to intervene and get Munak canal normalized.”

Delhi’s Water Minister Kapil Mishra had said earlier that seven water treatment plants had been shut in the city, and water supply would be hit, including in areas covered by the New Delhi Municipal Council, the civic body that covers the VIP heart of the capital.

Water is a basic amenity that it plays major role in day to day life.

Central Govt. should intervene to restore the supply of water through canal.

SC raps Kejriwal govt, says ‘you rest in AC chambers and want order from the court’

"You people instead of solving the problem at government-to-government level are moving to Supreme Court. You want order from the Supreme Court. You want everything on the platter," said court.

Delhiites should really feel proud to have such service-minded C.M.

While Delhi taps run dry, the imagination of our arm chair revolutionary member may overflow.

He will now come here to say that there is no water crisis at Delhi and the Government is thinking of diverting the surplus water into Yamuna.lol
