Tharpanam with Vibhuthi

"Tharpanam" literally means "That Offering which satisfies", a ritual to remember and please the ancesters.
Most important in this is the "Sradhadha", the faith and dedication with which we perform the ritual. Others
are according to the convenience of the place and person.

hi

the definition of SHRAADHAM IN SANSKRIT...

SHRADHAYA KRIYATE ITHI SRAADHAM.........the karma with SHARADDHHAAA is called SHRAADDHHAM....

Both practices are followed as per one's family convention. One has to perform Tharpanam after performing Madhyanikam. Naturally one would have taken bath by that time. However office goers perform Tharpanam by morning. They have to do Sandhyavandanam; take a bath; perform Tharpanam; wash feet and face; wear fresh Vibuthi and perform Brahma Yagnam.

swamin doing tharp0anam is important. In dharmasaatram one should do nithyakarma and then only go to tharpanam i.e pradha sandyavanthanam
kamya japam madhyannikam. after doing the madyannikam should take bath with sankalpam for doing tharpanam then perform tharpanam
the dharma sastram says having vibuthi or namam the pithrus will go away with dissatisfaction It is applicable for srartham also.

Butr in practice nmost of us not following tis even our fore fathres done it vibuthi or thiruman.

I have told u both the dharma sastram and the practice. as per your family pracitce or as per your elderspractice you can follow.
If u are particular about follwoimng dharmasatram then take a bath after madyannikam with sankjalp0am and do the tharpanam
without vibuthi after completing tharpanam yu can have vibuthi and havenothy pooja etc.

Vaishnavites wear the namam while doing tarpanam. They do not have any rule barring this. If there are any in the Sastras they do not accept these rules and ignore them.

Dharmasastram is common for all There is no seperate dharmasastram for vaisnavatic.

sootram is different for vaishavatic. But sutram defenietly not against dharmasastram.
But in our family our forefatheres are doing tharpanam with thiruman. so we are folowing the
same. As per Dharmasasstram it is not correc.

Following dharmasastram is individual"s opinion. No body can interfere in that..

But the version of dharmasaastram is sathyam

Dear Sri Rajappaji,

Sruthi Smruthi virodhetu srutireva gariyasi

Sastras are codes of conduct for the society. As they are frozen in time, people give up some of what is said in those sastras if there is no confirmation for that in Srutis or smritis. Even among smritis if what is said there is in conflict with what is said in vedas they are given a go by.

I do not find anything said in vedas about not wearing pundram on tarpanam day and so i do not accept it as a sacrosanct edict. Dharmasastras are all man made codes and they can be fallible.

Vaishnavites are fiercely loyal to vedas and they do not accept the authority of even smritis if they are in conflict with what is said in vedas.

And the logic behind wearing of the Urdva pundram is that we wear the pAthakamalam of Lord and Sri symbolically and the pitrus will be all the more happy if we do that on the occasion of a tarpanam because we recall them on that day and offer them our respect.
