Masala Khichdi
Ingredients
Rice 1 cup
Skinned Split Green Gram Dal 1 cup or 3/4 cup
Asafoetida
Turmeric powder
Red Chilli powder
Whole Red Chillies
Cumin seeds
Garam Masala
Oil
Salt to taste
Onions
Tomatoes
METHOD
Wash and soak rice and dal for an hour with asafoetida turmeric powder n garam masala.. Now pressure cook them well giving 7-8 whistles.
Finely chop 2 big onions and 2 big tomatoes
Heat oil in a wok.. Add cumin seeds, whole red chills, onions and saute well. Once onions turn pink add tomatoes and red chilli powder in cook till tomatoes are tender and done. Add this to the cooked rice and dal along with salt..
Serve hot with a spoon of Ghee.
Green Chilli Pickle
Take normal Green Chillies
Wash them well in running water. Give a slit in the centre and dry them. Add salt and keep it for a day.
Now make masala for the pickle.
Dry roast methi (teaspoon) and asafoetida
Coarsely grind saunf, methi, asafoetida. To it add turmeric powder n chilli powder. Add this to the chillies. Add mustard oil n sun dry for 3-4 days..
Yummy pickle ready
