Official vandalism in Tamilnadu temples

On a recent tour of Tamilndu temples I was shocked and dismayed to see that in most places the granite architecture and sculptures have been painted with emulsion paints spoiling the very charm of these artifacts. These temples were built thousands of years ago by the great kings in accordance with Agama Shastra with an element of divinity and sanctity. Unimaginative and bizarre coating of synthetic paints on these works of art is highly preposterous and abominable. I appeal to the concerned authorities in Tamilnadu to find out who is responsible for these acts of official vandalism and order inspection of all temples. They should also take immediate steps for sand blasting the structures to remove the offensive paints and colours.
