This is paligai thelippu which forms part of any wedding or upanayanam. green gram, black gram, mustard, paddy seeds are sprinkled on a set of five earthen vessels with a little of milk and water by sumangali ladies before the function. It is believed that the married life will prosper just like the sprouts. This arrangement is dissolved in water after the function.
