Have been watching Enge Brahmanan for quite some time in Jaya time. Glad to see some interesting subjects been touched upon and detailing that are provided in the program.

(I dont know the character name cause I get to watch the program once in a week. Thanks to work life. ) In one of the episode, there is a debate about woman's gothram changes after marriage. Considering today's modern lifestyle and forced changes in your marital status, what happens to a woman who is divorced and get married again. Which gothram does she belong to, her fathers, or her ex husband or she automatically take her new husband's gothram. The similar situation can be applied to widow though.

I have also been noticing people who read more on Veda or Hinduism are getting more and more conservative and seem to be applying Veda Shastra’s to their convenience. There was a mail that I received recently saying girls who are widowed or divorced should remain so for the rest of their life. Reason being you are contaminating the Brahmin community by changing gothram, however, on the same note he goes on to say that a man can marry as many time as he wants because our religion allows it. He justifies his action by saying he is a well educated senior software engineer. I agree, you should abide by Vedas, shastra’s and give due respect to what our elders and sages have given us. But does

Mr.Cho is doing a real good service to Hinduism in general - and the Brahmin Community - in particular, since getting out of the rigid shackles of "casteism" is a time warranted one for all of us in modern days. Hindu society should not and need not discard the "ethical" standards and disciplines that have succesfully governed the community and the society
    all along well.

I too have been watching this serial but I missed all the earlier episodes.

Is there a DVD available with all episodes (without the ads) arranged serially? I am ready to purchase this DVD.

On Isaitamil.net, I am able to watch old episodes on my computer.

Thank you all for reading my blog. However, I don’t see any conversations happening or sharing thoughts on some issues around being a brahmin or criticism that people have around brahmin... My knowledge is limited on brahmin culture, but will be very happy if someone can enlighten me on the issues I have raised above.

Any widow can remarry if she wants to in our ancient days. she can marry the next of the kin of her deceased husband like brother in law or relative.

As regards the gothram, it is not very important for a girl to bother. She will be absorbed into the family of any husband she marries and will belong to that gothra henceforth.

But I have not seen ENGE BRAHMANAN except the last episode
